Lovebirds

Yleina gasped at the sight of the tall, handsome figure dressed in his golden plate armor, despite her mental preparation on the way from Arempos. She felt hot blood rushing to her face, suddenly light-headed. Why did her body betray her in such a way when she found herself around him?

Fifteen paces away, the girl started to turn back around to return to her corner of the field. She would try to calm her nerves before approaching him again. However, her plan was dashed against the rocks as he turned his head in her direction, and his eyes fell upon hers. Eyes opened wide at being discovered, Yleina lost control and began hyperventilating.

Oh Aenil above! He's coming this way! Quick, stupid girl, hide somewhere! Move move move!!

But her feet would not obey the screaming voice inside her head. She could only stare in mute horror and continue gasping for air, while her black studded leather armor felt increasingly more and more constricting. The girl bit her lower lip and tried to snap out of her paralysis. Now he was nine paces away and closing.

Runnn!!! Don't just stand there half-turned like an idiot! Oh great, no chance now. Quick, smooth your hair down! That's right, good girl.

Her hands darted to comb at her bangs and make sure her ponytail was still neat and tidy, while her eyes moved everywhere frantically, nervously avoiding the Hero's gaze.

"Wellll met, pretty lassie! You look lost, don't ye, little girl? Why don't you let me help you?"

The lewd remarks snapped Yleina out of her trance, and she immediately glared daggers at the speaker. The tall oaf of a soldier who had spotted her moved closer with a wide grin, not having noticed the Captain General also approaching from behind him to the side...

(Roleplay from Tharion Frostnova)

Tharion reached out and placed his armoured hand on the soldier's shoulder, the grip strong but not painful.

"I am not sure that 'Lassie' is the correct honorific when addressing the Lady Lightstar, friend."

The Soldier's lewd smile drooped as he took in the words and began to notice the cut of the woman's armour, the expense of the dagger hilts that hung at her hips, and a dozen other clues that he should have picked up on before approaching. His face turned an ashen grey when he turned and stared at the owner of the gauntlet that still held him.

"Go friend, before this gets any worse for you".

With an imperceptable nod he turned and almost ran back the way he had come. Tharion chuckled as he watched him leave.

"I'm glad I reached him before you had a chance to correct his mistake and probably deny me one more soldier for the armies." He turned away from the spectacle and faced Yleina, smiling slightly as he recognised the familiar expression of excitement and rigid fear that she seemed to permanently convey. "I was hoping to meet with you before we set out but other events required my presence. Xarnelf your elder brother, that's one I did not pick. Although in hindsight the similarities are there to see."

He looked beyond the woman and noted a small cloud of dust on the horizon, the first sign that his last scout was returning. Tharion sighed and returned his attention to Yleina, an apologetic expression already upon in face.

"I am sorry but it looks like I am needed already. It seems that both the Marshal and his Second have deserted me. I was hoping we would be ready to march, if not already underway but it seems that we may have to spend an extra half a day in camp." The Captain of his personal command suddenly came out from behind a tent and fixed his gaze on Tharion, holding up a piece of paper in his hand. Sighing again Tharion reached out and gently held one of Yleina's hands between his own. "My apologies again M'lady."

His touch sent an electric jolt coursing through her entire body, causing the girl to shudder visibly as her eyes blinked quickly for several pounding heartbeats. Frowning inside at the way things were turning out, which was completely not as she had pictured in her mind, Yleina simply tried to treasure the feel of his strong, callused hands while it lasted.

Finally finding the courage to look the man in his eyes, she smiled sweetly and nodded her understanding. Then, a sudden rush of emotion enveloped the girl, and she threw her arms around Tharion, hugging him tightly with her cheek pressed against his cold, armored chest. Her hands did not even touch, since his torso was so wide and manly.

"Oh, how I've missed you, dear Tharion..." she whispered, not letting go of him. Meanwhile, his captain dropped the paper he was holding and stood still in stunned silence, unsure about what to do...

(Roleplay from Salerim Mourmain)

The Wolf Whisperers marched briskly through the camp, all of their gear neatly packed and loaded on the one mule they had brought along for this task. Siege engines rolled and rumbled behind them, pulled by oxen. Walking at the men's side, Salerim glanced around the grounds. His eye caught the sight of what appeared to be a large figure suddenly being wrestled by another, much smaller one.

As they approached, his eyebrows rose by an appreciable amount. The larger figure was apparently General Tharion, being hugged by a (comparatively) diminutive female person!

Small conspirative ahems and coughs sounded from the soldiers as they passed the two. This made him almost clear his throat involuntarily. He tried to bark "watch the road there, lads" at the same time, and choked completely instead. His face turned purple while he tried to hold it back for a couple of seconds, when he broke down into the loudest coughing spree of his life, to the joy of the soldiers...

(Roleplay from Tharion Frostnova)

Tharion looked around at the multitude of soldiers who were either grinning to one another or simply staring directly at him while he stood with Yleina, momentarily stunned. He recovered his composure and gently ran his hand over her hair.

"I have missed you as well but I think we're distracting a lot of people from doing their job." He carefully extracted himself from her embrace and smiled at the disappointed look in her eyes. "Get your soldiers ready to march and meet me at the front of the line. You can tell me exactly what you've been up to in the last months. It will be a far more enjoyable experience than trying to race your brother to the city."

He kissed her hand lightly and then turned to the onlookers.

"Do you all have so little to do because I can think of a dozen tasks that will make you reconsider whether you really want to be in the army. Are you soldiers or gossiping wenches?"

Most laughed at the good humour in the General's voice, although more than a few decided not to find out whether the threat was indeed a real one.

Yleina almost melted when Tharion petted her hair, which sent extremely pleasant tingles up and down her spine. But then when he kissed her hand, she would have swooned, had he not been holding on to her firmly. Even so, the girl only barely managed to remain on her feet. She nodded shyly at his words and then turned to leave. Gawking onlookers stopped the girl in her tracks, however, and caused her already blushing face to increase in intensity and color. After a moment's hesistation and much rapid eye movement, she sprinted from the camp in embarassment.

Once back in the safety of her little corner of the field, Yleina allowed herself to giggle uncontrollably at their meeting, after so much time apart. Now she could not wait to begin the march, so that she might spend more time with him...
