Xarnelf (ZARR-nelph)

(DEAD: Slain in battle at Nahad on 2011-08-10.)

The eldest scion of the Lightstar family, Xarnelf has faithfully served the city and region of Idapur since he first joined the ranks of the active nobility. His entire career has been spent in dedication to the Aenil and to his homeland.

Initially, as a simple knight of Taith Aenil, he swore an oath of allegiance to Arcangela Arella Morningstar, the Duchess of Idapur at the time. Then, some time after a dark period of despair clouded the realm, involving the untimely departure of the Arcangela, Xarnelf found himself faced with the choice of either remaining with the loyalists and Paladin Primus Helios Raiva, or joining the rebellion instigated by Pontifex Orphen Vincent and his student Luyten Dell. Loyal knight that he was, he remained to fight against the overthrow of the Old Regime for several battles. However, Orphen had other plans for the young noble and sent a lesser Aenil to distort his memories of Arella and therefore alter his perceptions of the entire situation, casting the rebellion in a favorable light. Thus affected, Xarnelf came to believe that the Arcangela had indeed fallen to corruption and immediately switched sides to help restore order in the new realm of Greater Aenilia.

Since then, he has been entrusted with the important duty of maintaining the capital city of Idapur. He also served a brief term as Haruspex Maximus in Taith Aenil, along with a longer period as Royal Treasurer of Greater Aenilia, before being appointed as duke. Then, during the latter stages of the war with Soliferum, Xarnelf was elected to be ruler after High King Tharion de Ravenal mysteriously stepped down to, quite dubiously, pursue his dream of joining the travelling circus. He styles himself as the Imperial Paladin of Aenilia.

Xarnelf is well-known to be a daring and usually unpredictable commander on the field, causing much grief to Soliferum throughout the southern war's second half. He can be customarily seen riding at the head of at least a hundred men.

He fell defending Nahad from an invading horde of Arcaeans.

Yleina (uh-LAY-nah)

(DEAD: Executed by Viracocha Zurralius of Soliferum on 2009-10-01 for getting caught trying to disrupt travel twice.)

A free-spirited and independent girl, Yleina ran away from home as a young lass of seventeen winters to escape the hassles and nuisances of court life. Her adventures took her all the way south to Soliferum before she became homesick and returned to Aenilia. Although her father had removed her name from the records in shame at her leaving, the family welcomed their daughter back with open arms after a few years. Yleina insisted on continuing her wild life of adventuring though, as she took great pleasure in eradicating the monster and undead menaces before they could gather in force to terrorize the countryside--much more so than attending silly balls and court dances in gravely uncomfortable dresses.

She served Aenilia thus for close to two decades, earning the respect and gratitude of the commonfolk many times over, as she patrolled only those regions within her realm. Her name even reached the ears of several prominent members of Aenilia, including the High King and Captain General, who relied exclusively on her skills for repairing their unique artifacts.

However, when disturbing news of an imminent war that would span the entire Far East reached her ears, Yleina found herself pausing in her routines to question whether the life she had chosen was indeed the right one. Her skill with the sword had become exceptional, after a lifetime of practicing, and it might be put to better use elsewhere than her current profession. Indeed, even her brother, the Duke of Idapur, had already urged her several times over the years to reconsider becoming a proper noble lady again, but she had never really listened, until the war between Soliferum and Arcaea broke out just outside her homeland's borders. After much serious deliberation, Yleina the Blademistress, Huntress of the Mark, finally left her life of adventure in the past and announced her return to being an active noble of Aenilia.

Adaria (ey-DARE-ee-uh)

Cousin of Xarnelf and Yleina, Adaria has traveled throughout many realms of the Far East as a child. Her father Wynlar was an explorer at heart and a merchant by trade, so she never truly had a permanent home. However, upon hearing of her idol's outrageous passing, Adaria vowed to join Aenilia as a knight and somehow seek justice for Soliferum's many wrongdoings.

During the course of the war in the south, Duke Salerim Mourmain appointed her as the Marshal of the Aenilian Expeditionary Army. Adaria found the position to be quite challenging at first, but she gradually grew into the role and made great use of her standing orders with regular updates. After a rather adventurous foray deep into enemy territory, which did not proceed as originally planned, the girl lost her appetite for the war and decided to remain at home to perform regional maintenance.

Shortly after High King Tharion's departure, Adaria was appointed as the new Duchess of Idapur by her cousin Xarnelf. With her newfound abilities and responsibilities, she has created a new army--the Barely Understandable Regional Officials--to hopefully serve as Aenilia's bureaucratic and defensive force.

Adaria remains quite a silly and carefree young lady, still adjusting with her new promotion, but finally coming to terms with her cousin Yleina's death as Soliferum continues to slowly crumble.

Zinn (ZEN)

(DEAD: Executed by Nia'jax of Thulsoma on 2011-01-28 for trespassing.)

Zinn had been told by his mother that his father was a noble with the surname of Lightstar, but he had never met the man, for his father never visited them (and probably did not even know he existed). Growing up was tough for Zinn, for his mother was a serving wench, and food was not easy to come by. And so, he had resorted to some light thievery here and there, but eventually he was caught and sent to prison. Miraculously, there was a prison break conducted by a band of pirates to free their captain, and Zinn decided to join them. Their travels took them all the way to the newly discovered land of Dwilight, where Zinn took his leave and began an exciting life of adventuring and derring-do!

Since then, Zinn has served countless, respected nobles from a number of realms, including Morek, Astrum, and Aquilegia. His name has become quite well-known, especially due to his knack for somehow managing to always locate amenable sages to repair priceless, unique items, whenever duty calls. His quickest job was completed within the same day! However, his slowest job did take over a year... (though in the end, he was still successful!)

Zenn (SEN)

Zenn grew up as a poor street urchin named Jazper Longfingers in the Libero Empire, but he decided to try bettering his lot on his seventeenth birthday. To help ease his transition from petty thief to adventurer, Jazper assumed a fake identity as well-known freeman Zinn Lightstar's long-lost brother. He hoped to follow in the other's footsteps and gain similar recognition and wealth.
