Requesting Tharion's Insight
Yleina decided to pen a letter to the Captain General and discover his thoughts on the matter....
My Dear Lord Tharion,
I find myself torn between two choices and would like to hear my lord's opinions on the matter, when you have time to respond.
Initially, I would like to say that I have loved the adventuring life, full of freedom and excitement. Though it nearly broke my mother's heart when she found out I had left home at the young age of seventeen and traveled south, all the way to Soliferum, I must say that I do not regret making that decision at all.
However, years of hardship and living without the customary privileges and luxuries of nobility have done much to temper my wanderlust and wild spirit. Now, I am not saying that I miss the court life of a noble; indeed I still remember with great horror the time when my mother ordered me to be pampered up and suffocated in a dress two sizes too small, so that I could be shown off to various lords and nobles of the realm. It was quite uncomfortable to be ogled by men twice (or even more than twice!) my age as a possible marriage prospect, and I swear that one of them was even drooling!
Anyway, forgive my ramblings, my lord. Now, I shall speak of my personal dilemma. A few years ago, my brother the Duke suggested that I leave my adventuring ways behind and finally return home to be a proper, active noble of Aenilia. He mentioned that we have not had the specialized skills of a reliable infiltrator for quite some time now, since the good Lady Dawn served us. With my many years of hunting and tracking beasts and ghouls alike, the Duke believed that I would make an excellent spy and assassin.
At the time of his suggestion, war such as exists now did not plague our land and threaten our very way of living. But now, in these dark and troubling times, perhaps Aenilia could once again use the expertise of an infiltrator, especially in the event that the war spills over into our own borders. However, if I am to formally rejoin the ranks of the active field nobles, I will unfortunately no longer have time to serve my lord as I have done so in the past, repairing the precious artifacts that serve you so well in battle.
Therefore, my lord, how do you believe I should proceed? Would it be in the best interests of Aenilia if I begin my training in the arts of infiltration as soon as possible, so that I will be ready when the time comes? Or should I continue my efforts directed against the foul evils that spawn periodically within our realm, and also continue to repair my lord's items when needed?
I await my lord's reply eagerly.
P.S. - Has there been any news of my brother's release from Ohnar?
