It was good to be home again. She did not realize how much she had missed the familiar sights and sounds of the land of the Aenil. Now, as she reclined under the shade of a cherry tree, merely gazing upon the distant walls brought back a myriad of pleasant childhood memories. The young woman wondered how her parents fared; it had been many months since their last correspondence, and who knows how many letters might have been lost en route by inadequate couriers.

She had left a young, inexperienced girl in search of adventure far and wide, eventually journeying across half the continent. Many an undead had fallen to her swift sword during her years living in the forests to the southwest. She had no desire to return home, no idea when, or if, she might.

Then, the troops arrived, glorious in their armor and banners of FPGA, to aid their allies against their foes. She had observed cladestinely from afar as their superior forces won victory after victory. She also recognized several key figures, which brought to memory the occasional, almost rare, conversations with her beloved brother, a few of which mentioned these great men.

Alas, her beloved brother, her gentle, kind brother....According to one of the last letters she received from her mother, he still lay in his comatose state, neither fully with the living nor the dead, serenely pale in complexion. Perhaps the Aenil had something in store for him...perhaps he would awake one day with some divine revelation...or perhaps he would remain in his bed until his body could no longer stand to function and finally let his soul free from its prison.

The sun neared its zenith overhead, and the woman stood up, gathering her rucksack. It was best to be moving on now, if she wanted to reach the gate by nightfall. She decided that she wanted to explore the city and see how much it had changed through the years before paying a long-overdue visit to her family's estates.

She had left a naive girl indeed, but now she returned as a strong, capable woman, a battle-hardened veteran who had seen and defeated untold horrors of the night. It was good to be home again.

Whether she would stay or not...well, that would be up to the Aenil, and to fate....
