Lady Talika is an adventurer of Riombara.

History

Talika was found as a young child lost in the desert and taken in at the Kestrel family manor. Such a large place has many children and caring for one more was no trouble at all. Talika, however, stood out from the others. She was the only fair-haired child in the manor, the others all having darker desert coloring. She was also singled out as the only child of unclear status, the others being clearly nobles or commoners. Because her past is unknown, she was never able to fully fit in with either group.

One of the benefits of growing up in such a large household is that she was able to get a broad education. She was able to learn great deal of academic subjects from the tutors hired to teach the noble children, since no one could find a good reason to exclude such an eager pupil. She was even able to talk her way into dagger lessons from the arms master, though she was barred from using other weapons or learning military strategy. She also learned how to do a variety of common (and uncommon) tasks from the hundreds of servants involved in running the manor, stables, salt flat, and trade operations.

When she came of age the family would have offered her any job she asked, but instead she decided to travel the world. They paid for her passage to Beluaterra in return for her promise to send back any information the family might find of interest. After several misadventures, she and her friend, Escent, built the Elemental Gauntlets. They have also found the Blessed Arrow of Betrayal together.

When the daemons came, Talika and Escent were each deported to different islands. Talika tried to start a new life in the East, but missed Escent. Eventually she gave up adventuring, and spent several years working aboard a ship in search of him.

Eventually she met up with Escent in Medina. He was on his way to meet with a noble, and told her to wait for him. Unknown to her, this meeting brought Escent his final recommendation. With the new responsibilities of knighthood, Escent never made it to the appointed meeting place. Talika waited for him for months, but the years on the ship had taken too much of a toll on her skills. She was killed by an undead champion, she died alone and unburied.
