Hades and his Girl

Its Beginning

Archon Minor Hades Ironsides, while serving his faith in Rotherthorpe, met a young noble from the city of Leohampton. The maiden Cimiko Destrakos was a devoted follower of the Way of the Warrior Saints and frequented the temple often. Many mused that she did so to be close to Hades and when he finally noticed her, they became fast friends. Her wit and humour attracted his pious intelligence and they were a fine match. Her family was minor in the city, holding lesser positions and participating in the aristocratic society of the scene. His was growing in fame and prestige, and already had two famous and infamous members.

As the months rolled on, Hades began to court her and they grew closer together. Once Hades realized he loved her, he was determined to marry her. He was unsure of how this would be taken by the Elders of his faith; he was after all a Priest. With the permission of Carnifex Templar Kealan and the allowance of the other elders, Hades proposed to Cimiko.

Wedding of Hades and Cimiko

As planned, Archon Minor Hades Ironsides and Lady Cimiko Destrakos wed in a small ceremony in the temple in Rotherthorpe. As the Way has no formal ceremony or rites for marriage, they decided to commit using the traditions of her family. Holding a pure cloth between their hands they stood facing each other, bowed, then made a vow on the cloth that it should remain as pure and clean as it was that day, as would their marriage. They vowed to be honest, faithful and supportive of each other through all the love and the suffering of their lives. On that cloth, they swore to share their blood to create children and raise their offspring as proper nobles. By this, they were wed.

After the ceremony, the few guests gathered for a plentiful meal provided by Viscount Relkin.

Before the feast ended, Hades rose to make a toast and to reveal more to the story...

"Guests, I am grateful that you have joined Cimiko and I on this blessed day. I would like to thank my new parents for their support and attendance, and Viscount Relkin for all his help. He is a great man of faith, and a valued leader. I bless him and the region of Rotherthorpe for welcoming me here and providing us with a home. There is more to the story than we had originally let on...mainly for both our sakes. Now that we are wed, it is time for us to reveal a matter of importance....Cimiko is pregnant. We have reason to believe she will birth twins."

The crowd gasped, then slowly began to clap awkwardly. Cimiko's father stood up in a rage but his wife pulled him back to his seat.

"Let us enjoy the day as it should be, and pray that the Saints bless us and lend us favour in our lives. Remember that following them maintains the Order of our world, and pacifies the Sleeping Father. Should that Order erode, he will awaken and all will come to a sudden end. Thank you, enjoy your meal."

It was a joyful but strained afternoon.

Viscount Relkin enjoyed the small ceremony and feast. His chefs had prepared a seven course meal with various delicacies. The chefs had made sure to include some dishes from Falasan in honor of the groom.

The news that the Lady Cimiko was pregnant was of course a small surprise, but no more so than the quick marriage. He might have to smooth things over with the Bride's family, but her father was a reasonable man.

Still, Relkin was distracted. The war with the Northern Federation loomed over Minas Ithil. He wondered if he would have need to ride into battle again.

As Viscount Relkin finishes all the necessary formalities and greetings related to the party a rider enters. Handing a letter to Relkin the soldier salutes him. "Congratulations General Relkin"

Ignoring the surprise on the faces of the other guests, Relkin leaves the celebration.

The celebration was small but their love was deep. Together, they live in Hades small estate in Rotherthorpe, she tending to the household, he preaching his faith in Minas Ithil. They live a happy, humble life together.

The Twins.

The twins were born two months after the wedding. They are Titus and Ariadne Ironsides.

After a long agony, the ecstasy arrived.

Hades stumbled out of the nurse's tent exhausted but overjoyed. His wife Cimiko had just given birth to twins.

Twins!, he thought. What am I going to do? I have to prepare a place for both of them in our estate. I have to make sure that they are cared for, fed, clothed, defended, and raised as proper nobles. I have to...and he began walking thinking of all that he must do.

Inside the tent, Cimiko held her children in her arms. She felt battered from the birth experience, but as all mothers know, it was worth every shap stab, every excruciating push, and she looked forward to doing it again. Just then, Hades reentered the tent with excitement.

"I know what to name the boy!"

"What shall he be called?"

"Titus Ironsides. Named after my legendary ancestor from the East Continent."

"And the girl?"

"That is for you to decide my dear."

"Hmm, then I shall name her Ariadne, after my grand mother, who taught me how to play the flute. May little Ariadne grow up to be full of joy and wonder."

Then she hugged both her children and said,

"There is a whole world for you to explore, remember that you are both nobles and must make sure to retain your dignity at all times."

"They will grow up to be outstanding nobles. We can assure them of that," Hades replied.

And so the Ironsides family grew plus two on the continent of Atamara.
