Falasan Flag mini.png Action on the Western Front

April 18th, 2007

With Darka's return to Anost, Falasani and Ashlantean troops withdrew to Barad Falas in the face of forces too strong to fend off. After commencing (and as of the latest news, completing) a takeover of Belegmon, Estonite and Darkan troops attempted to assault Barad Falas and were repelled with heavy casualties in spite of their greater numbers (see the Siege of Barad Falas for a full accounting of the battle).

The most up to date reports note that another assault appears to be in preparation and Eston will likely arrive at Barad Falas' walls by this evening. Whether this is just a feint or an attempt to take advantage of the damaged state of the walls remains to be seen.

Falasan Flag mini.png Answering the Call
April 6th, 2007

A work by Tyrion Grey, knight of Wor'ight and noble of the Ash Sea Islands.

You send a call out for a song
A song to rival those of old
I search my desk for paper long
And rack my brain for words to mold
My work is not as good as some
But I have read and sang a bit
My words can make you weak and numb
Or fill you up with pride and grit
On battles eves I hardly pen
Yet in advance I gladly write
I don't intend to rally men
Only to give the strength to fight
I'd hate to sit idly by
While monsters roam the country side
I'd join the archers and let fly
To lay them low and turn the tide
Never will I allow undead
No not a single rotting corpse
To rise and march while I'm in bed
I'd be the first to light a torch
Now this is all so well and good
As long as it's a fiend we fight
But what about those foes who brood
Those men who will attack at night
These are the foes we need not fear
Just stand against their unjust cause
They'll break and run and shed their tears
The righteous man would never pause
So hearken to those men who stand
And lend your strength to causes great
Never refuse to lend a hand
And hold honor above your hate

Falasan Flag mini.png State of the War

April 6th, 2007

The focus of the war shifted from the east to the west with the Falasan offensive against Belegmon, overrunning the Taran defenders and commencing a takeover.

However, the attempt to reclaim Belegmon was thwarted 5 days ago when a combined Darkan-Estonite force attacked Belegmon. Although the forces opposed were quite close, several variables resulted in a devastating loss for the Falasani and Carelian defenders (See the 4th Battle of Belegmon), resulting in the capture of Abraham, Royal Treasurer of Falasan and Kronos, King of Carelia.

The survivors retreated to Barad Falas, and initially repelled the first assault, but were unable to prevent the invaders from entering the city on the second attempt.

Estonite and Darkan troops proceeded to loot and ravage the surroundings as much as possible. High Marshal Herumor of Darka was quite open in his taunting, referring to his list--that of cities taken and looted.

Troops returned from Eastern Front, and an offensive from Beleriel reclaimed Barad Falas. In an ironic twist, Herumor himself was captured by Falasani forces.

Eston also followed the shift in emphasis, emptying Amdor to fill Belegmon with troops, perhaps in response to the concentration of Eastern Alliance warriors in Barad Falas, or perhaps in preparation for an assault of their own.

Falasan Flag mini.png Wassup, Elmston
April 2nd, 2007

A month ago, Estonite marshal Artemis Entreri declared "wabbit season!" This is, indeed, how the war went:

Elmston attacks the wabbit kingdom

Elmston attacks the wabbit kingdom

Unprecedented treachery has seen them use:

  • an attack without declaration of war
  • spies
  • secessionists
  • raping and killing
  • and, indeed, everything but the proverbial chamber pot (with general Basil's mouth coming pretty close in recent days, see page 7 for details)

But still they failed to get the wabbit!

Wassup, Elmston?

Falasan Flag mini.png Eston general insults Carelia's King

April 2nd, 2007

We have just received this message from our correspondent in Belegmon:

Roleplay from Kronos

Message sent to everyone in the region Belegmon

Letter from Basil Message sent to: Armitage III, Dielo, Kronos Kronos,

You are a liar and a fool. Eston will now almost certainly have to accept federation with the Cagilan Empire and Talerium.

That Federation will not be in your best interest. Of that I am certain.

Sir Basil High Marshal of Eston, Duke of Massillion

As from now on,i consider your General, not only an ignorant concerning tactical approaches but also a coward... I leave it up to you to deliver the following message.

Carelia gave a battle with total respect towards its enemies here. We've requested from Eston to do the same. Your King, people of Eston, is a man with honor and full understanding. However,on the contrary, your General is a coward and disrespectful towards a Leader of another realm.

Don't even ask about his reasoning and his diplomacy. I challenge this man,if i can call him like that,to come and tell such words in front of my face. As this will give me the chance and the pleasure to shut his big mouth once and for all with my axe, Halyvas.

I may be old, but still, boys like him i certainly know how to handle.

Whatever happens,do not take it as a personal attack towards the people of Eston. I am sad to see you being leaded by a man of such disrespect.

While i never insulted him, he has insulted me twice. I've put aside his insults the first time, now I am asking him to come and prove his ... bravery.

To come and solve with me this issue once and for all...as a man towards another man.

I know that Estonians have courage, so if their General doesn't know what "man" means, I am politely requesting from you to explain him.

With respect,

Sir Kronos King of Carelia, Marshal of the Royal Guard
