Background
It was a long road to Norjke, but the stories told of a Region over run with Monsters, and the Stories were true.
For 3 straight weeks I fought all sorts of Monsters in Norjke with little food or rest, but their numbers never seemed to end.
Twice I had come across a particularly large group of monsters, each time lead but an uncharacteristically large and intelligent beast. And Twice I had barely survived.
After 3 weeks I was finally beginning to see some progress as the endless tide ebbed. And then I came upon them. The largest group of monstrosities yet, and their Leader stood at the Center, larger than any I had encountered before. I felt the urge to flee, but I felt that they would not let me if I tried.
I fought and one by one they fell, they were tough, but I persevered.
At last it was just me and their Leader. He was easily twice my size and was brandishing a large two handed Broad Sword in one hand and a large Club or Uprooted tree in the other. I cannot be sure but I believe he was smiling.
We fought for hours, I dodged and weaved, and I could not let him hit me for one hit of that Sword would probably have killed me outright. I struck at him repeatedly, but could not seem to penetrate his thick hide. After 2 hours I could see he grew as weary as I. I had cuts and bruises every where and a few near misses that almost ended the battle, nothing serious though, but each one sapped my strength a little. I had injured him, not through Blade or Cut, but through the force of my strikes and the targeted locations.
Eventually I made a mistake and I was struck full force with his Club on my Right Shoulder. I fell and could not get up, my right arm was limp and my Sword lay a few feet away. He approached and stood over me, I knew it was over, but would not let it end that way, I would go down fighting. I drew my dagger from my Left boot and jabbed it under the beasts Knee Cap and rolled quickly to the side to avoid his retaliatory blow. His screams were almost deafening.
The pain was excruciating as I rolled on my Hurt Shoulder, but I bit my lid and dragged my self to my feet. I scooped up my sword with my left hand and finished off the Disabled Beast.
As I dropped to my knees from exhaustion I noticed the fine craftsmanship of the Monsters Broadsword. This was no Ordinary Sword, but a lost treasure of the ages.
I would eventually find a Sage and discover the name of this Unique Weapon, the Emerald-Studded Broadsword of Bloodletting.
