Arrival

I arrived on the new world they called Dwilight four days before Attius Miriel was elected its first ruler. My ship also carried Sir Cato De La Fere and Sir Harthur Carver, with whom I had struck a good friendship. We decided to join the realm of Springdale, which looked promising, and as we had hopes of colonizing the lands together.

Early days

In the early days, King Attius ruled fairly and justly, leaving his seat of power as Duke, and appointing Lady Zyrinn Fallan in his place. Sir Lestat Corax was elected the first judge of Springdale. Sadly however, these times were not to last.

A rebellion is bred

King Attius's hand ever grew heavy, and soon, he would not answers a nobles query, and he would make bargains and deals without even informing the realm about them. His tyrannical ruling increased day by day. At first, only Sir Edelhart Marquis of Cold Spring and I dared raise a voice against him, but soon, so did the other lords, lead by Duchess Zyrinn. Finally, the lords made an ultimatum to Attius- create a Senate of lords, or face rebellion. He did not capitulate, unfortunately, and preparations for rebellion began.

Rebellion begins

At first, Duchess Zyrinn approached me to lead the rebellion, but I declined. I had started the protests against King Attius, and I did not want anyone under the impression that I did it in self interest, to put myself on the throne. However, it soon became apparent that there was no one to lead the rebellion; the bureaucrats demanded that the rebel leader have spent a month in the realm. The rebellion was delayed slightly, until the Lords finally found someone with the necessary qualification. Sir Neel Arya, a relative unknown, a man who had taken no sides in the entire conflict, had been chosen to hold the banner of the new Springdale. The choice perplexed me, but i knew there was nothing else I could do.

Rebellion

Soon, the rebellion broke out. Neel promised away regions to his supporters, including the city of Muspelheim to Sir Cato, who was Duke Nifelhold. It quickly became apparent Attius had no support, and his lone unit was defeated, and the palace occupied by the new ruler, Neel. Attius was exiled, and he left the continent shortly.

New Springdale

King Neel quickly established the Senate, consisting of councilors and prominent lords. Shortly after, Judge Corax was forced to resign following a scandal, I found myself Judge of Springdale, in an eminent position to witness our new leadership. The Senate was established, consisting of the council, and lords. Things went smoothly at first, just as they had in Attius's rule, and I wondered then was it not history repeating itself. Muspelheim was taken over, but it seemed King Neel was reluctant to keep his word to Duke Cato. There was much deliberation and mudslinging in the senate, I supporting Cato's appointment, and a few lords including Edelhart against it. But it soon became apparent to Neel he must keep his word, unless he wished the same fate as Attius. Duke Cato of Nifelhold became Duke Cato of Muspelheim, but this issue forever soured the relation between Neel and Cato and I.

Disagreements with Neel

King Neel soon turned his eye toward me, and tried to control me and my post. He tried to pressure me into making decisions favorable to him, but I refused to bow to his demands. He began disagreeing with my decisions on a regular basis, from fining Lady Asmodan and banning Sir Walter for trying to buy the region of Aegir for himself.

The Everguard Issue

(What happened next was much hushed up by Neel, but now its time for the truth to be revealed.)

The council was approached by a set of colonists who wished to colonize Nifelheim, lead by Fisc Arylon. However, they were convinced to move to Valkrja instead. King Neel had initially promised them support, in return for help overthrowing Attius. On their first colonizing attempt as they neared Valkrja, Neel outright ordered me to ban them, in a sudden reversal (He refused this later, and called on me to produce the letter stating so). When I did, he had no response). I refused. I was not his puppet. Their first attempt failed, and they returned to Springdale. This time however, Neel took a different tone. He gave the Everguardians an army of their own, and helped them to succeed, later claiming it had been his intent all along to support them. Our relationship reached an all time low.

Departure

Lady Delia and Lyse had come to Springdale around that time. They wished to form a colony of their own (Caerwyn), and soon struck a deal with Neel. In return for support in their colony, they were to help him get rid of the thorn in his side (I). They actively protested my decisions, insulted me, and Lyse went so far as to cast doubt upon my nobility. I banned her, and that was when Neel sprung upon me. He exiled me from the realm, claiming I was working against the realms best interest. A good number of nobles protested Neel, and a small group asked me to lead a rebellion against him. Duchess Zyrin too disapproved of Neel, but didn't want another civil war. Neel's cronies all protested me, and I lost the Judgeship. I wasn't interested in any more rebellion, and I was disgusted with Neel's tyranny. I decided to leave for greener pastures. Leaving my good friend Duke Cato behind, I set off to Everguard, with a few loyal nobles at my side. Neel had replaced Attius as Dictator of Springdale.

Epilogue

I wasn't in Springdale when I heard about another rebellion there. The Dukes were apparently tired of his his insults and tyranny, and were seceding to form Raivan Empire and Virovene. I must admit I was grimly satisfied when Neel was overthrown from his seat in Springdale city itself. History is never kind to dictators.
