Criteria

In order for a submission to be accepted into the Department of History it must first be found to follow these two conditions:

1) You must provide evidence. When you write history, facts are integral to support your composition. Anything you state as a fact must be referable to a source, especially if challenged. Otherwise it is speculation and may contain faults. If you decide to pursue the path of a historian, it is strongly suggested that you begin storing any and all documents you encounter, both public and private. Even ordinary documents can become a fountain of evidence for a future paper.

A) Primary Evidence is facts derived from your personal collecting (public and private letters involving you, realm events, guild announcements, tax reports, news messages etc.).

B) Secondary Evidence is facts you acquired through others (things you were not a participant in or an observer of; private letters not involving you, other realm news or events etc.).

2) It should be typified. A history paper may be written for many purposes thereby a writer must define and state the type of paper they are submitting. Types include: analysis, biography, chronicle, essay, polemic, survey, treatise.

A) An analysis compares, contrasts, considers and states the facts.

B) A biography presents the significance of a noble's life.

C) A chronicle places the facts in order (timelines).

D) An essay argues your opinion or interpretation of facts.

E) A polemic argues against another’s opinion or interpretation of the facts.

F) A survey is an exhibition of facts.

G) A treatise is a general description or discussion on the facts of a subject.
