The Death of a Nation September 16, 2008
Early this morning, we witnessed the death of one of the original nine realms of the Colonies. After years of bloody fighting, Alebad finally succumbed to the might of Oritolon and Lukon. Their government was dissolved, titles of nobility were revoked, and Alebad City was placed under Oritolnian control.

While this was felt most by Alebad's federation partner, Alowca, news of Alebad's defeat will affect all the Colonies in one way or another. The Southern federation now has a fourth city under their control, and with the situation looking grim for Alowca, they may soon have a fifth. All eyes turn South now, waiting to see what the two superpowers' next move will be.

Helsera Revolts, Quickly Brought Back in Line September 13, 2008
The people of Helsera staged a revolt, driving out the new Assassin government, and declaring their loyalty to Giblot. This revolt surprised many, as there was no prior warning, and many people in the region were still loyal to the Assassins.

However, priestess and former Countess of Helsera Thyra Strongfoot would hear none of it. The same day, she staged another religious coup, and brought the people back under the black dagger of the Guild. Her words for the people of Helsera: "All hail the Shadows, I said!"

Count of Warmanoras Assassinated! September 12, 2008
Shortly after the stabbing of Pontifex Allyah Stalker, Kitsuka Yamato, Count of Warmanoras was found on the floor of the local militia outpost in Warmanoras, with a deep wound in his side. Signs of a struggle were present, but no one witnessed the event, and Lord Kitsuko was not in good enough shape to talk. Lying on his chest was a coin similar to the one found on Pontiefex Allyah, with a dagger one one side, and a thumbscrew on the other.

It is rumored that Kitsuka had a 400 gold bounty on his head, which the assassin was no doubt eager to collect.

The Assassins' Guild has denied all responsibility for the recent attacks on Alowca, stating that "if one of our infiltrators did it, he was working on his own, without our approval".

The Guild: Closed Until Further Notice September 11, 2008
The headquarters of The Guild was closed and boarded up today, due to lack of funds in the treasury to pay the maintenance bills. Apparently, disgruntled maintenance workers took it upon themselves to extract all valuables from the Guild, once they realized they would not be paid. Many priceless historical artifacts are missing, and extensive damage was done to the guild hall itself.

Twilight General Revan made a public statement today, asking the culprits to either step forward peacefully, or "face certain death at the hands of the shadows". This is no idle threat: two bodies have already been found in the streets of Dark Citadel, each with the word "T-H-I-E-F" carved in their backs with the blade of a dagger.

Newly-appointed Magister Ludi of the Guild Casey Fender stepped down from his position after these events, and left the realm of the Assassins in shame. His last letter to the realm said, in scrawled words:

Anyone who hails from Assassins, rules the world.
You are the blood that flows and feeds the Island.

Long live Assassins.

Remember you are the true guild.

Hulaferd Revolts September 10, 2008
In what has become almost a commonplace occurrence for the region, the people of Hulaferd revolted from the Assassins, declaring their allegiance to another realm. This time, however, they chose Lukon, hoping the colonial superpower could finally bring them peace and stability. Many Assassins and Tilogians wait eagerly to see what Lukon will do about the large army of Giblot and Wetham soldiers stationed in the region.

Pontifex Assassinated! September 9, 2008
Earlier this morning, the Pontifex of Alowca Allyah Stalker was found in her Sleeping Quarters at the "Inn of the Naked Jaybird", lying in a pool of her own blood. Healers quickly rushed to the scene, and were able to stop the bleeding, though the wound was deep. It is not known what the Pontifex's current condition is.

A strange coin was found on the victim's bedside table, with a dagger emblem on one side, and a thumbscrew on the other. Similar coins have been found near the bodies of many victims across the colonies.

Religious Uprising in Helsera September 4, 2008
A religious uprising, led by Priestess and Founder of Shadowism Thyra Strongfoot, has overthrown the rogue government of Helsera and put the region under the black dagger of the Assassins. A mob of peasants, incited into a religious fervor, marched on the capital building, broke down the doors, and reportedly paraded the former government officials throughout the town - naked. None were harmed, although some may have been emotionally scarred. The officials were released afterwards, and allowed to return to their homes and families.

The road to Helsera from South Bakker is a long one, taking around five to seven days to travel. This will make holding and maintaining Helsera quite a challenge for the Assassins, even without Giblot interference.

A New Friendship September 4, 2008
After a period of much diplomatic activity, the realms of Oritolon and the Assassins joined together in an alliance today. This happened shortly after the Guild broke off their old alliances with Alebad and Alowca, which by this time, were little more than words on paper.

News of this development has caused worry and unrest among the people of Wetham and Giblot, who fear they may soon be at war with one of the most powerful realms in the Colonies.

The Fall of Alebad? September 1, 2008
In a great and bloody battle earlier today, Lukon and Oritolon forces managed to breach the walls of Alebad City, the capital and only remaining region of the realm of Alebad. They have made multiple attempts to breach the City's walls before, but met with little success. This time, however, Lukon and Oritolon emerged victorious, with the army of Alebad crushed. Lukon's King and General Ares Reaver was kind enough to provide a full report of the battle, which will be available in it's entirety in a later issue.

Near the beginning of the battle, it seemed as if the fight could go either way. The army of Alebad was outnumbered by around 6,000 CS, and consisted mostly of militia. However, they had the distinct advantage of being perched atop level four walls. As the battle began to unfold, things changed quickly. Alebad's army was mainly archers, while Lukon and Oritolon brought lots of infantry and siege engines. Once their soldiers had reached the top of the walls, it seemed evident who the victor would be.

It is not know what lies ahead for Alebad. Will they rise up and throw back the invaders, or will they go the way of Portion? That, only time will tell.

Edit: The full report of the battle is available Here
