oath of Fealty to Dragon Queen Katayanna of D'Hara

Once on deck, she moved forward to take the lead of her unit. Thorrson and Reuban fell in immediately behind her.

As she moved down the dock, she saw the busy interactions of the people of Port Nebel.

At the end of the pier stood a contingent of the Queen’s Dragon Guard. They snapped to attention and escorted her to the pavilion where Queen Katayanna was seated waiting. “Enter Dame Katrina,” Queen Katayanna said with a smile. “If your sister is as beautiful as you are, then I know why my brother fell in love with her.”

Suddenly Katrina’s mouth went dry and she wanted to drink the apple mead she had brought for the queen instead of giving it to her.

Remembering herself, she dropped into a deep curtsy. “Your Majesty, I am honored to finally meet you.”

The queen told her to rise and come forward.

Katrina moved to a place in front of the queen then dropped to one knee. She cleared her throat and began in a voice that did not tremble nearly as much as her hands holding aloft her sword to the one who soon be her liege.

“Before all who are assembled here, I solemnly swear that I will from this day forth faithfully serve Her Majesty, Katayanna Ogren; Dragon Queen of D’Hara and Duchess of Port Raviel. I will go at her bidding and do as she commands. I will protect her, her lands, and the realm with my last breath if necessary. I will make all her causes my own, be they just, and work to make her dreams a reality.” As she finished her oath, Katrina drew her sword along her palm and watched as a line of blood welled in her open palm. “I swear my loyalty to you My Queen this day by my own blood.” She rose and presented her sword to the queen.

Standing, Katayanna accepted the sword offered. Taking it in her right hand and examined the fine blade that had obviously seen much use, but was kept razor sharp.

Katayanna slid the sword across the palm of her own left hand. Allowing the blood to then drip along the length of the blade.

"I accept your oath. For my part I swear to be a good and just liege. To honor you according to your oath. To Protect you and serve you well as your Duchess and your Queen even until I draw my last breath."

Katayanna handed the sword back to Dame Katrina and motioned for her to rise. turning her to face those present in the pavilion and placing her arm on her shoulder.

"Nobles of D'Hara, I give to you my newest knight and Vassal. Dame Katrina Dragul, who has come to us from the far lands of Sprindale to join us. She brings with her a hundred bushels of Food and a highly experienced unit of Archers. Welcome her and treat her well, for all that you do to her, you do to me."

Oath upon Accepting Position of Confessor of D'Hara

When Katrina arrived at the palace, she was immediately ushered to a small table in the queen’s garden. She had seen this part of the garden before, but never had been granted an audience there. The queen was seated at the table, looking over scout reports that had been received. “hmm so that is where you are Hericus? We will watch you closely and see to it that you cause us no more harm,” the queen muttered to the report in front of her. Queen Katayanna looked up as Katrina approached. “Ah, Confessor, please come, sit with me.”

“Thank you, Your Majesty, but first there is some business that we must attend to.” Katrina approached the Dragon Queen and dropped to one knee, the same sword that she had carried the day she had sworn her oath of loyalty was in her hands outstretched toward the queen. “Your Majesty, on this day, “I, Katrina Dragul, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Realm of D’Hara and her queen against all enemies, from within or without; that I will be loyal and true to none but my queen and my realm; that I take this obligation freely, without any reservation; and that I will well and faithfully perform the duties of the office of Confessor within the realm of D’Hara. With the dragons as my witness, so swear I”.

Queen Katayanna smiled and told Katrina to rise. Having done so, Katrina joined the queen at the table. A servant hurried to bring her something to drink.
