Followers of the Church of Humanity,

Listeners in the region of Partora,

Today, I want to discuss with you one of the 12 Tenets of the Church of Humanity, Tenet number six: Make a regular practice of religious activities.

Some time ago, I spoke with a noble whom recently had embraced the faith of Humanity. He had just heard about the twelve tenets and by the sisth he became afraid. He came to me, after one of my services in Beziers, a little west from here.

He asked me: “Priest Chadro’ez, I do not know what to do with this tenet, can you help me?”

I asked him to explain himself and he said that he did not know how to pray, or how to meditate, and that he was afraid that he could not follow this tenet.

I explained him with the Tale of Orbanis the Fragile, an archer whom lived in the first days of the Church. His tale is forgotten by most or has never been told.

Orbanis the Fragile was a proud man, whom ever was trying to defeat his enemy from a distance, for when the enemy came to close, he did not stand a chance. Therefor, Orbanis the Fragile became an archer, and quite a good one, I might add. In many battles he served amongst heroes, under Generals worthy of serving under. He aided those whom where in need of aid, slew enemies that were brutal to everyone around them. But he also granted mercy to those that showed remorse, for above all, Orbanis the Fragile believed in second chances. As a matter of fact, his captain was a former bandit whom showed remorse when Orbanis the Fragile showed him what he had done. That captain became quite the hero, but that is another tale that I shall not go into at this time.

One day his fragility became his end. At the end of a long and hard battle, somewhere east of Perdan City the field of this battle can still be found, a stray arrow wounded Orbanis severly. A Priest of Humanity was close by and stayed with him to his end. His loyal captain stayed with him too and explained to the Priest that neither of them were ever religious.

“Religion is not found in following sermons, or praying each day. Religion is different for each man, some find it in words, but most find it in their deeds and actions. I have heard many tales of Orbanis the Fragile and all show that his religion is shown through deeds, though he has never stepped foot in a single Temple.”

“But how can that be, does your god not want it’s followers to actually follow him?”

“Our divinity asks it’s followers to follow him by the twelve tenets, that is true. But even if the sixth tells us to regularly practice religious activities, it does not say explicitly that you must pray, or that you must meditate in order to follow him. A religious activity is not only words that you utter, but in the thought in which you take action. Your captain, Lord Orbanis, is the perfect example. Have you not shown him mercy after he showed remorse? Have you not guided him to become a better man? Even if you did not name it by the Church of Humanity, that is what the Church wants. It is what the Divine wants. In your actions you meditate, your life is a constant prayer to the Divine.”

I shall end the tale of Orbanis the Fragile here, for there is not much to say on the subject of todays sermon in his tale. On his last day, he embraced the Church as his faith, for it had been his faith, though he did not know it.

Through action, you pray, through your life, you believe.

Have faith, Knights of Humanity. Faith in the Divine. Let it be the armour of your soul. As is steel the armour of your body.

With faith, I send you,

Chadro'ez Vando (Priest of Church of Humanity)
