His rank,among his god, but so far

Cailin writes a T and moves his hair out of his eye.

Cailin writes an o, and sees a glimpse of the blood tattoos on his hand.

He stops writing and raises his left hand and looks at the three fangs written in a circle.

"The third rank" Cailin thinks.

First is Epic himself.

Second is Power.

Third is Cailin.

Fourth is Sword.

The Fangs gave Cailin no magic powers what-so-ever. They are called the blood sigils of command, because they showed rank, and nothing more. The fangs are the wolf fighters, the beasts that use teeth and front claws to fight.

And Cailin was the third best among their whole realm, but Cailin never fought Epic. but Power did, and lost. and Cailin lost to Power, so that is how he was ranked third. The only human who wore a beast sigil of command. The few other humans had closed circles. Cailin thinks they just looked like scabs.

No monster would dare attack Cailin with this seal of command. Not even a low rouge is that dumb.
