Government Reforms

Despite the stress and pressures of the current conflict, a debate began within the Kingdom recently over the government titles that have been in place since the latter days of King Doc's Revenge final reign. It remains unclear how exactly the debate began, though it quickly became clear that the changes to government titles had not been met with much enthusiasm by the Ashlantean nobility. One of the more memorable indictments of the changes came from former King Malice, who described the titles as 'a poor mimicry of Taran styles.'

As a result of the public bust up, King Beircheart promised to look into the matter and has since restored an Ashlantean touch to his council. The Fiduciary is now once again known as the Royal Treasurer, with the Executor now named High Chancellor. In another welcome addition to the adjustment of titles, the Witenagemot was also restored after having lain dormant since the abdication of King Malice, when it was replaced by the second Senate of King Doc's Revenge. -Wolfram

A New Era for Minas Ithil

Today, the coming of dawn marked a new era for the Kingdom of Minas Ithil. The first day of the reign of King Raoul De La Fere has now passed and the Ithillian people can look forward to interesting times ahead. This follows the recent abdication of King Dead Angel III, who himself had ruled MInas Ithil almost continuously since it's founding.

Undoubtedly, with a new monarch on the throne, movement could now be made quickly upon the issue of the great northern conflict, which has raged since the earliest weeks of 2007. Whether rightly or wrongly, by the end of King Dead Angel III's time on the throne, the diplomatic story had become more about the man on the throne than anything else. Perhaps now, with the fresh breeze King Raoul brings, changes will begin to occur in the north. -Wolfram

Scuffles along the Battlements

At sunrise this morning, Ash'rily found herself assailed for the first time in this long conflict by a combined Caergothian, Carelian and Suvillian force. The battle that followed was little more than a massacre for the coalition forces, with the enemy infantry wholly unable to gain any purchase on Ash'rily's walls.

First hand reports of the coalition rout can be found in our archives.

Region Lost

After two attempts, Tara has once again wrested control of Jauchu from the Ash Sea Islands. Previously under Taran rule, Jauchu suffered famine despite the strength of Taran harvests. Time will tell if Jauchu is prepared to labour under such abuse a second time.
