The guard's presence was announced by his loud fart as he strode down the dark cellars of the Cathay prison. "Got your lunch here, maggot. Eat it all or you don't get none tomorrow," the guard yelled loudly, to the roars of laughter from his companions down the hall.

Leaning down, the guard whispered, "Got your letters here, sir. Everything from the past few days."

Tenal took his meal, and the letters, greedily from the guard. He whispered back, "Thank you, Olaf. You're a good man. I got a letter for you to bring out. I don't care about the condition, so long as it arrives. There's a silver in the envelope for your troubles."

Then Tenal yelled loudly, "Would you make up your mind already. Do you want to kill me by starvation, or with your horrible cooking? Get out of my sight and let me eat this swill in peace."

The guard winked and tucked the letter into his trousers, deftly hiding the coin first. Then he chuckled, "Suit yourself, scum. Try not to choke on the bones. Be a shame to make that handsome face turn purple. Har!"

Sir Tenal Quasath Count of Orbeh

After days in prison, the Quasath family finally paid the Cathayan ransom in return for Tenal's freedom. He was glad to be rid of the place. With only the clothes on his back, Tenal made his way back to Arempos, the place where he was captured and where his remaining men were still hiding.

The ill honour of the Cathay people struck quickly. No sooner had Tenal returned to Arempos was he attacked by an Infiltrator named Vine. A cowardly, feeble sort of man, who whined like a troused pig when Tenal threw him down and cuffed him. Tying the assassin up himself, Tenal hauled his worthless hide to a merchant cart. He paid the caravan guards a few gold to bring the filth to the dungeons in Remton.

Tenal had to find his men first before he could return himself.
