As he was traveling to Sasat to help his army a messegner appeared in quite a rush. "Sir Galdor! I'm glad I finally found you, there has been a change of orders. You should turn around and help the count of Saex, he has been having problems with some lost Sartanian nobles." Galdor startled "Is he alone then? And how many Sartanian nobles are there?" The messenger shook his head "Sir, I have no idea, but I reckon our count was outnumbered three or four to one." Galdor bit away his anger as he called to the Captain "Waldred, let my men turn around. Make them haste towards Saex, I will be riding at the front."

Even before he finished his sentence Waldred nodded to his superior and called his men out to give them orders. Galdor turned to the messenger who could see his anger, "Tell me everything about it, please ride along for a bit." The messenger looked a little startled but nodded in compliance, "Sir, It all began when Marshall Massey arrived in Sasat. He and Peter were vastly outnumbered, but still managed to stand their ground due to their fighting experience. It even looked like they had the upper hand, but then the enemy got reinforced and everything was lost. We barely managed to escape, and after a midday of traveling we encountered Arcaean troops. Sir Massey decided to stay and rally in Sasat while he sent me to find you, to tell you about the situation in Sasat as he had just heard about it from another messenger. And here I am."

Galdor had trouble to hear that the Arcaean troops took so much time in traveling, but also felt a lot of honor in being in the same army of those brave commanders who fought together to hold off an army for almost a day! He turned to the messenger, "I know enough, would you tell Marshall Massey that I am on my way to Saex. If everything goes the way I plan it, I will be arriving there tomorrow. Now go and deliver my message."

The messenger nodded and mumbled "Yes Sir." As pulled the reins and strode off he heard Galdor call him. He turned and saw a gold coin turning in the air, comming his way. He caught the coin and looked rather surprised in the direction where Galdor had stood. Galdor gave him a quick wink and thanked him for his courage, Then he saw him pull his reins and lead his men in the opposite direction of where he was to go.

Gunthram ran up and down the army column composed of thirty light infantrymen. More brawlers than warriors, they were meagerly equipped with a small axes and a wooden shield, and armored only by leather cuirasses and crude iron helmets. But what they lacked in gear, they made up for in guts. Some of the men were picked from shady taverns and dark alleys, other were simply hired muscle, but they all shared a common trait: a life under arms was better than what they had left behind in the cities, so they fought to stay alive and cash in at the end of the day. Their first mission was to stop the looting of Sasat by Lasanarian soldiers. But as they had left Remton late at night, they had missed the battle by almost six hours, and Gunthram was furious. If he had a whip, he would have used it to fire on his men.

"Faster, you dogs!", he screamed and shouted, "Move you worthless arses! The enemy awaits!"

Tammo sat out in the cool night air, enjoying the natural beauty his estate provided. It was nice to finally take a moment of rest. Things had happened so quickly in the past couple of weeks: he had been appointed to the council, and then Lady Olga had left and Santoro had left, and now he was in command of Saex. Tammo could hardly believe it. He had always trained for fighting, and now he often found himself caught up in political discussions. It wasn't that he disliked it...it just all seemed so strange.

A servant came out from the house to deliver the day's paperwork. Tammo looked over the reports with an approving not. Although most of the Sartanian pigs had fled the region, his men had still done well. The civil work was going well in Saex; production would likely soon be back to normal levels.

Suddenly, a name caught his eye. Tammo froze with the paper in his hand. Could it really be true? Was he reading this right? Yes, there it was clear as day. Tammo fetched a servant from the house. "Please send a message to Sir Peter as quickly as possible. Tell him that Dieter is in Saex."

When he arrived in the region of Saex he met with a messenger, "Sir, the battle in Saex is over!" "Okay, I take it we won?" "Yes Sir, Sartan troops are fleeing to mraxaulon. But if you'd excuse me, I have to report in Remton." Galdor gave a slight nod, "Of course, go ahead."

When the messenger was gone he turned to his men, "Warriors, it seems that we again missed the action. Although I have heard that there are still enemies in this region. So if you'd agree we'll hunt those Sartanian dogs down! Who is with me?!"

When he said those last words there were 30 men shouting acknowledgements. Galdor turned to Waldred, "Captain, I guess they agree. Let's go hunting." After saying these words there appeared a wide grin on both their faces.

Tammo Hlessi Count of Saex

Your messenger arrived and delivered your message. My thanks for the information on Dieter's whereabouts. Unfortunately, I am stuck in Remton with the 6 last remaining men, that the healers were able to salvage after our bloody encounter with Lasenar. I wont be able to go anywhere for a while until I can recruit some more troops. Duchess Marle has gold for me, but she is away at the moment on important business. Dieter is foolish, and will show his ugly head once more, at which time I will be ready to dispatch it from his feeble body. Regards

Gunthram and his axemen had just arrived in Sasat, royally late for the actual fighting. Scattered enemy troops still roamed the region, so the barbarian noble and his troops divided into two groups and went to hunt them down. Gunthram took fifteen men of his bodyguard with him, and sent his captain Gosbert off with fourteen more. They searched the mountainous paths for an hour, until night fell and Gunthram became bored. The men set up a command post around a big campfire, and took out the ale they had brought along for the journey. Many gallons were consumed, and the men laid their eyes to rest for an hour of sleep.

Gunthrams eyes slowly opened again, and he became slightly confused. "It shouldn't be this bright outside..." He got up, and noticed an extinguished campfire, a soldier laying next to it with a burnt tunic, and fourteen others scattered around him, still fast asleep. It seems they had been out until morning. Gunthram jumped up and kicked the soldier next to him. The lad veered up and reached for his weapon. "What? Who's there?", he yelled.

"On your feet, maggots!", Gunthram shouted, "Dawn has broke, and we are late!"

He saw the report his scout had brought him, and fell back into a chair. He had hoped beyond hope that it would not contain the information he knew it would. Dieter had slid past his grasp and was moving south while he was unable to do anything about it.
