Temple of The Anvil

This temple has nourished generations of believers in the Fortress Town of Soniel. It was raised by "Beacon of the Way" Madras Drako. He was granted that title for his efforts in doing so, by Dormondt Lankmere, Guardian of the Way of Adgharhinism.

The temple is situated within the temple grounds. These are gardens which are kept clean and tidy by priests and pious believers who tend them constantly. All men walking the grounds talk quietly and behave with decorum on pain of flogging by the Flagellant Guardians of Decorum who patrol them. In any case, any man foolish enough to draw sword there would be ripped apart by an outraged mob of believers within seconds. Otherwise the grounds are open to the public, for quiet contemplation and prayer. Twice a day, simple food and water are served for beggars and weary pilgrims of Adgharhinism.

The Temple of the Anvil is simply laid out. It is made of grey stone with a peaked slate roof. It has a long rectangular nave leading to a semi circular chancel space around the altar. Two lines of pillars run along the length of the nave. These are topped by vaulted arches which support the high roof. There are arched stained glass windows running along the Left and Right walls depicting religious themes. The congregation sit in the nave on rows of benches running across the width of the building, and the Chancel space is raised about a foot higher than the nave.

At the front of the Chancel, there is the famous Anvil altar, around 4 feet high, and shaped in the form of an Anvil. The walls of the Chancel space holds 5 niches raised above the height of the Altar. Each niche bears a statue to one of the 5 gods. Central is Great Adaghar, with Omorthion on his right, and Senith on his left. Lyonnith the fair resides in the rightmost niche, and Lyonnhar the dark is ensconced in the leftmost niche. The 5 niches are separated by 4 stained glass windows that illuminate the Chancel Space. At night, lamps are lit to light both nave and chancel.
