Temple Of New Beginnings

The Temple of New Beginnings was built in Ozrat to celebrate both Poison's appointment as Duchess (the second one in Lasanar) and the end of the Arcachon/Lasanar hostilities. It is located just outside the city walls along the road which ultimately leads to the crossing to The Dark Isle. The temple is dedicated to Lyonnith and Lyonnhar to symbolise the dark times of the hostilities ending, and the coming of lighter times of peace and tranquillity between the Dark Isle and Lasanar.

Construction

The temple was quite large for a small temple, and was able to fit at least 600 followers into it when it was first constructed. The temple was built mainly from wood, but there was a small room at the back where the local priests slept and prayed privately which was made from stone. The roof is flat with a slight slant, and has some stained glass in it with images of The Twins. The shape of the temple is a wedge shape, due to the arrangement of the benches inside.

When the temple was enlarged, a side room made of stone was added which houses a small library of books written about the teachings of The Twins, and some short stories of the Arcachon/Lasanar war which the temple was built to commemorate.

The temple has since been enlarged again.

Interior

On the inside, there are three columns of benches, with ten rows each. The side columns are at angles facing the central altar. The altar is on a raised platform made of stone, and behind it is a door to the priest's room. The main temple has images of The Twins scattered on every wall, and two large granite statues on either side of the altar at the front. The stained glass above the left side of the temple depicts Lyonnhar pulling the sun to the dark world. The right side depicts Lyonnith pulling the moon to a world of sunlight.

The priest's room at the back has a small bench facing a picture of Lyonnhar and Lyonnith, and also contains the temple's treasury.

The library - built with the first enlargement - contains books about the Arcachon/Lasanar war, and religious texts about The Twins. Unfortunately it only has two book shelves and around fifty books in it, since there are not many books detailing with the two subjects. There is a small area at the back with a few chairs around some small tables from which worshippers can read. There are several paintings which depict scenes on The War and The Twins.

People

The people of Ozrat are devout followers of Adaghar and there are always volunteers who will read from holy texts, clean the temple, or repair the texts in the library if they become damaged. There is often a priest in the region, due to Ozrat being the capital of Lasanar, and it being on a main route of the Island priests, and so many peasants will turn out on these occasions to be lead in worship to The Twins.
