First Epistle to the Church

1Noble Brothers and Sisters,

Triunism is the study of three distinct and fundamentally different deities, Blacklight, Mortazo, and Wurdiz. 2Each professes a different philosophy of life and by studying the way that they contradict and effect each other we can better understand this life.

3Mortazo wishes to profess that life is dangerous and chaotic. In order for life to be protected a Leviathan must rule over man to keep the evil out. 4Through law and order rested in one individual we are made safe from the anarchists and revolutionaries. The more men that power is rested in the more possibility there is for dissent and disloyalty. 5If an idea challenges the established order it is evil, 6only by standing still can we remain safe. By giving your will to the Leviathan you assure your own safety.

7Blacklight wishes to profess that life is full of tyrants and power mongers. Free will and choice are the guarantied rights of all in the verse. 8Only by questioning and destroying authority are we safe from powers grasp. In Anarchy we must live, the ultimate form of freedom and expression. 9Never stand still; always question and challenge, even if it destroys you.

10Wurdiz wishes to profess to you that life is not black and white, but built on compromise. Absolute authority and absolute chaos only lead to damnation and death. 11By balancing the two we learn to live the way Space and Time envisioned us to. If we do not compromise in life and learn to accept each other’s differences, we are doomed to live apart and afraid for our own lives.

12All three deities are imprisoned in the brass golem Telos. 13They were impassioned there after Blacklight and Mortazo finished their war. The golem acts as a vessel and warden for them, but has no life of his own. 14Telos travels the verse as the three influence all they come in contact with.

The May Letters

The May Letters are a series of letters written in debate to Sir Labelle Enstance, a Priest of Sanguis Astroism in the days following Lady Metis Highland's formal founding of the Church of Triunism. The Letters not only define the beliefs of Triunism, but attempt to correct the wrongs and mistaken perceptions made by Sanguis Astroism in its beliefs.

First Letter to Labelle

1I know of these stars that you speak, the static points in the sky by which men in this land have marked direction and season. I see where you may draw similarities 2but know that I have not confused your dead gods with my living lords. 3The stars you worship are static, unmoving, forever set to watch this world. If I had truly been worshipping them all along, would I not reflect it in my beliefs and teachings?

4The unmoving position of the Bloodstars lay in the domain of Mortazo and no other. They are watch towers of this world, established by him when the verse was young and Time had just joined with Space. 5The stars' stable position allowed Mortazo a safe haven for his followers. The stars did not always wax and wane like they do now, they used to stay as bright as the sun on a summer day, their white light knowing no equal. 6They were beacons to warn the followers of chaos away and allow the believers of safety entrance. Their brightness could be seen from one end of the verse to the other, a testament to Mortazo’s power.

7As with all life, nothing lasts forever. 8Blacklight grew jealous of Mortazo’s stars, every time he looked to the night sky he saw them was an affront to his beliefs. He gathered his followers and tried to remove Mortazo from the stars. 9Blacklight traveled ahead of his followers, knowing a way to lead them to the stars. 10He disguised himself as one of Mortazo’s lieutenants and traveled to the heart of each star. There, he tricked the stars to wane and wax, telling them that it was the will of Mortazo to draw more followers this way. The stars obeyed and Blacklight had his revenge on Mortazo for his stars.

11Mortazo was furious at Blacklight for what he had done. In response Mortazo armed his followers but Blacklight surprised them. 12For the first time since the start of the conflict, Mortazo and Blacklight led brother and sister against brother and sister, 13all for the greater glory of their side of the coin. 14The fighting had no bounds, entire planets and stars were wiped from existence, 15Space cried as her children bled into the verse she created for them. When all was over, the stars were little more than a graveyard, stained with the blood of a thousand spirits, forever to be cursed as Bloodstars.

16Time and Space took Mortazo and Blacklight from the stars, cursing them for bringing death and woe in to the world. As punishment they were bound, forced to see the verse through the others eyes. 17When the act was done, Time and Space were dismayed to see that they had failed, the wills of both had kept them separate and had in fact created a third, Wurdiz. The three fled back to the stars, 18each hiding among one of them. 19The stars grew in brightness and diminished, just as Blacklight had commanded of them, as the eons stretched on. From time to time they did battle, none ever gaining the upper hand.

20It was not long before Time and Space grew worried, 21the time of the second coming was almost at hand. They could not allow the wars of the three to leak into the mind of mortal man. 22So they traveled to the stars and bound the three into a construct, a Brass Golem known as Telos, or Purpose. He would serve as their prison till the end of time.

23The stars are not gods, my brother, but places of great importance. Without them the force of contradiction would never have come into our world. 24Worshipping the stars will not gain you the knowledge you seek, it will only show you the path, and it is your choice whether you want to walk down it or not.

Second Letter to Labelle

1Brother Labelle it is good to see that you are willing to continue this discussion with me. While I would appreciate you at my side in the Temple, it serves me just as well to see your faith strengthened with these letters. 2I would also like to thank Magistrate Vigilans for allowing us to continue this metaphysical talk. For a follower of any religion I say to you that you should not worry yourself with the words of a hermit who does not associate with men.

3You say that the power of the Bloodstars would incinerate any being with their power. Of what power do you mean? 4Do you believe that the power of the stars can cross divine barriers? No my dear brother, the stars are not divine, holy granted, but not divine. They have as much power over the gods as the moon does over the sun. 5Their place is sacred in the cosmos as the site of many verse-changing events and they are the place where we all end, as I will later explain.

6Do you also believe that the first generation held bodies as we do, constructs of flesh and bone? Their composition is not of our ability to comprehend, they can only be given names that our limited language has the ability to facilitate. 7They were the first born, a generation not only limited to Mortazo and Blacklight. There were many children of Space and Time in those early eons, more numerous then the stars themselves. Father Time and Mother Space gave them the verse to explore and study and the mortal generation were to be their subjects, each having a domain. 8The War of the Three changed everything.

9Early on two charismatic children developed philosophies from their travels in the verse. One saw life as full of chaotic energies, leftovers from an earlier time, and a threat to his fellow brothers and sisters. 10He determined that the only way to protect them was to make them safe himself. He talked among his fellow children and drew many to his side. He would be their leader, to him they entrusted their safety and their rights.

11But another child saw this as a breaking of the covenant. Chaos to him was a gift to be embraced and cherished. 12In it one was guaranteed that their rights would never be infringed or taken, they were free to go their own way and forge their own path. So the camps were split, each retreating to one side of the verse. 13The bloodstars and this world stood in the middle, a place where both sides could meet and discuss.

14After the war was concluded and Wurdiz was born there were few of the children left in the verse. 15Many decided that isolation was the best course of action and embarked on their own journey, never to be seen again. Others decided that their loyalties to Blacklight and Mortazo were too deep to be cast aside so easily. They traveled back to this world and awaited the return of their lords. 16As they arrived the mortals were awoken, beginning our history. These children drew groups of the mortals to their side and taught them of their beliefs and ways. To the mortals these children became their gods, and many still reign today.

17Blacklight, Mortazo, and Wurdiz remained trapped in their prision, the Brass Golem Telos. 18Telos remained still sometimes, enthroned in the Bloodstars, watching the mortal world. The golem found it a fitting punishment to have the Triune watch the world being run by their servants. 19The Triune watched in horror as their philosophies were warped and twisted. This began the period known as The Exile. 20At other times, the Father Time and Mother Space, moved by pity, command the Brass Golem to move, a period known as The Journey.

21The gods are spirits as we would call them, but they are much more than that. So, brother Labelle, do you see now that the gods can move around the stars without trouble, that their power was given to them by Time and Space themselves?

Third Letter to Labelle

1You say that the Bloodstars are superior force in the verse, that their power is not bound by divine spirit or by Time and Space. You claim that gods derive their strength from the worship of their followers and that we in fact have power over them. You claim that Time and Space have no will, no conscious and that they are live crops in a farmer’s field. 2You say that I have not given you clear answers, well brother: a simple answer does not have to be easy to understand.

3I will try, my dear brother, to make my arguments easier to understand. I feel that my letters to you have become laden with more storytelling and not enough theory. In my attempt to make the letters more easily read I feel I have failed in their main purpose. For here on I shall dispense with the Gospel and move into the realm of teaching.

4You say that the gods in this world are bound in power by their subjects, that the only power they have is given to them through sacrifice and prayer. You liken the power of the gods to that of a weak king, one who rules in fear always of his subjects. Does this sound like the order of the gods to you, to have a divine being created in the first generation be ruled by a mortal soul? 5 How could they be described as gods, or even divine, if they are ruled by a lower class of beings. Is a son greater than his father, or does the father remain the head of his household?

6You claim that Time and Space are crops to a farmer’s field, that they have no power whatsoever. 7I ask you brother Labelle, does a farmer live in his crops or off his crops? It is a distinction that determines the course of our discussion. 8Do we live off of Time and Space or in them? To live off them we would need to be in control of them and gain something from them. The opposite is true, however, we have no power over them. 9We cannot determine the course and speed of Time, he is his own master and we cannot influence him. Space’s domain is equally secure, we cannot determine how she expands or what she fills herself with.

10Space filled herself with the planets and the stars, the Bloodstars included in them. When Time joined with Space the miracle of life was brought into the verse, or the contents of Space, and the gods were born. 11The stars were created first, granted, but they were created before the miracle of life was introduced into the verse. Their power is far before anything we can understand but their power does not exceed that of the gods, or even Time and Space themselves.

Birth of the Verse

The wheel spins, Space emerges into the void. Reality has abandoned her, for dealing with finite durations. Her tears fall and give substance to her prison, crystal orbs float the void. The wheel spins; Time emerges, falling into Space’s eternal embrace.

Our kalpa has spun and passed. We, the last of that great age, stand on the threshold of the new one. Let us not weep for we are Te Ika-a-Maui, and we shall never fall again.

The sands of Time looked deep into the tracts of Space, and saw only [the sacred word]. They embraced, and through their love sprung forth the stars and moons, and the mortal plane.

Look at this land, time rehearsed, that we have brought forth. On its surface shall spring demigods who do not share my favor, my [looking glass] has showed me such. Let us destroy them before they breath eternal providence.

Space returned from here shaping and arranging, her look one of sullen fear. Time looked upon her and felt ashamed for his words.

I shall turn back my sands and destroy the words I have spoken for it means so much to you. I shall make certain that they shall not be spoken again.

More tears fell from the eternal eyes of Space, and Time knew that even he, with his great power over the Hautu, he had no power over te reo Maori. The time looked back on the wheel and cursed [Lord of the World River from a previous kalpa].

Time took Space in his embrace once more, but no life was created this time, for trees had grown to separate them. Time beat his chest in rage, but space took his hand and soothed him. Together they looked over what they had created and were glad.
