Siver

History

Until it lost its status as an independent city-state to the expansionism of North Darka, the port city of Siver was the trading center of the northwestern part of the continent. It's small, pleasant population offered their hospitality and a northern harbour that, warmed by Mnt. Sinclair, did not freeze over like the ports of Icegate, or drive away merchants with high tariffs like Saler. The people of Siver wished to remain at peace and refused to take sides in the Darkan civil war. When North Darka decided to take it as the first step in dominating the Sinclair peninsula, they met with little resistance and much of the population moved to Azzal, taking with them the land-born trade. The city is much smaller now, but maintains a stranglehold on northern and western sea-born trade.

The Present

Siver is a prosperous city and it's location means the people can enjoy a peaceful life there. Commerce is doing well and there are few problems. Visitors are welcomed with open hands, but trouble makers find themselves quickly in jail and in front of the duchess for sentencing.

Trade, Produce and Guilds

Siver is the main industry city of Darka. It's famous for its breweries, especially the Northern Light.

Siver is the location of the main office of Atamaran Writers Association.

Hot Springs

Due to the proximity of the volcano of Mnt. Sinclair, there are many hots springs in Siver and the surrounding areas. After recent renovations, the most luxurious of these natural hot baths is the one located in Siver palace.

There are three pools: One for the natural hot water, one that is slightly cooled down and one that has cool water in it. With the renovations, the facilities have been brought to such standards that the baths are fit for a king..or a queen.
