The Menocchio Family originally hails from the heart of Atamara, in the mountains of Nazia. Here they lived for hundreds of years, fighting various lords of various status.  However, in more recent times, the family homestead was moved to much nicer quarters in the city of Azzal. The origins of House Menocchio are unknown, though it is believed that the original patriarch was a blacksmith whose skill in his craft was second to none.  It is said that he was granted a title of nobility and a small tract of land in Nazia when his armor saved the life of a local King fighting in a most savage battle.  House Menocchio took for its banner the above crest.  The black represents their steadfast in battle while the white symbolizes a desire for sincerity and peace.  The two lions stand the dauntless courage that the family has displayed in battles for generations upon generations.  Finally, the flaming sword in the center of the crest carries a double meaning.  It symbolizes the Menocchio’s commitment to justice but also is a reference to the family sword, named Lightbringer.  Legend has it that long ago, this sword would be set ablaze to frighten the enemy.  But time and countless wars have seen the family forget the knowledge and the magic of the sword and thus, Lightbringer which is wielded today by Eadric, eldest of the Menocchio family, is nothing more than an ordinary sword today.  But it is the responsibility of every member of House Menocchio to seek out the pyromancers of the world and try and restore the flame to Lightbringer once more.  Obviously, the family words displayed on the top of the crest are a reference to the sword and the desire to bring light to that which is dark.

Although the youngest of the three siblings, Giovanni was the first to embark on his career.  He made his was down from his mountain home to the city of Cagil, captial of the [[Cagilan Empire]].  After the long journey, he immediatly joined the army and recruited some light infantry.  While a memeber of the empire, he made several advances in his career.  First he was set to be second in command for Battlegroup Hammer under Zadar Nargath.  But for whatever reason, that fell through.  But soon after that the Gods smiled upon him and he was offered the command of Battlegroup Brawlers.  It was then that Giovanni decided to take the path of a hero and all the glory that comes with a death in battle.  During his tenure he made friends with several other Cagilans.  Koradji, Minister of Defense of the Empire took Giovanni under his wing and taught him about the art of War.  Shaun, a fellow battle group commander always kept Giovanni entertained with his stories of bravery and valor.  And of course, Bethany, who always put Giovanni on his toes with her sharpe wit.  But the [[Cagilan Empire]] became filled with petty bickering and arguing.  He needed a new place to call home.  That's when Shaun told him about a realm on the South-East Island named [[Taselak]].  Shaun's brother Seumus was the High Marshal there, so it seemed as good a place as any.

But when he got to [[Taselak]], he found that it wasn't for him.  Not enough fighting for realms supposedly dedicated to constant warfare.  So once again, Giovanni boarded a ship.  This time, to the East Continent where he joined the elves of [[Sirion]].  He enjoyed his stay in [[Sirion]] and  made friends with a few elves such as the Grand Justicar, Graf.  He also maintained a friendly relationship with the legendary Doc, however, sadly, he was not in [[Sirion]] long enough to be of any real importance.  It was hard for Giovanni to be constantly surrounded by elves.  So yet again, Giovanni boarded a boat back to his homeland of Atamara.

[[Darka]] has proven to be a very good fit for Giovanni. As a mercenary realm, there is no lack for gold and Giovanni has become a very rich man. When he arrived in Azzal, he immediatly befriended a man named Murat Orim. Little did he know that Murat would soon be elected King. As King Murat had great trust in Giovanni and appointed him the Baron of Xultec. Later on, Giovanni was promoted to the Marquis of Rantire, a townsland region with a large gold income. Loving his life in Darka, Giovanni decided to move the family mansion to Azzal. He is currently working as a mercenary in the Darkan army and being paid hansomely.

The Menocchio family currently resides in [[Atamara/Azzal|Azzal]].  Traditionally a house of limited wealth and renown, more recent times have seen the house achieve widespread fame.  Currently, the three brothers, [[Menocchio Family/Eadric|Eadric]], [[Menocchio Family/Areopoagitica|Areopoagitica]], and [[Menocchio Family/Giovanni|Giovanni]] are spread throughout the worlds, lending their swords to realms dedicated to honor, justice, and virtue.

The eldest brother, Eadric began his carreer as a troopleader in the lost realm of [[Fallangard]].  He entered the realm just as it began to fall.  He enjoyed fighting for a purpose but did not enjoy being on the loosing end of the fight.  Falcor, the Arch Priest of [[Fallangard]], and Eadric were good friends and to this day, Eadric still wonders what happened to his dear friend.  Panther I, King of [[Fallangard]] was a noble man, yet to Eadric, he seemed cold.  When the time came, Eadric felt that it would be best to move on.

[[Plergoth]] was a young, upstart realm.  With only six regions, and a small number of troopleaders, Eadric was appointed High Marshal of the realm within twelve days of his arrival.  Ever since then he has been a very important member of [[Plergoth]], always part of the most important decisions that are made.  Throught his years in [[Plergoth]], several good friends have come and passed.  Appalt founder and once ruler of [[Plergoth]], Nymatal the Chancellor, Bowen, Wolfy, Paragon, Distorted, and countless others.  During his tenure there, he has been a Ruler, a General, a Judge, as well as Duke and other various region commands.  Currently, he is serving as Duke of Reeds and just completed a construction of a fine keep where he will take up residence. If ever needed, you can probably find him in his solar looking over the books trying to improve the administration of Reeds.

He began his career in the democratic realm of [[Fontan]].  As a young man he always enjoyed his freedom and [[Fontan]] seemed like a place where he would flourish.  And flourish he did.  As an active troopleader, he was placed in the elite Battlegroup Thunder. First led, by Gandalf, and then by Son of Patrick, command finally passed to Areopoagitica.  This was the battlegroup that raided deep into [[Caligus]] territory and looted their regions to the ground.  One memorable mission (I can't remember if it was Thunder or something else) in particular was the "expedition" organized by Klaus.  The city of Hamadan and its neighboring region, Mashhad were looted till they went rogue.  It was this expedition that eventually allowed for the creation of [[Yssaria]].

After the long war with [[Caligus]] was ended Areopoagitica became disillusioned with [[Fontan]].  The war was lossed but that was not what forced Areopoagitica's decision to leave.  What did, was that [[Fontan]] had been filled with too many people who just wanted to argue all the time.  So he and his mentor, Son of Patrick made their way for [[Ibladesh]].  Lady Sorcha promised them guidance under the teaching of the Gods.  Areopoagitica remains in Ibladesh, worshiping under the Gods and defending the Church against [[Perdan]]'s drive for world domination.

  • Areopoagitica leads a pious life in Ibladesh, serving the will of the gods and defending the East Continent from Perdan and their hegemonic goals
  • Giovanni, tired of trying to find a home abroad, decided to come home to Azzal and become a mercenary in the army of Darka.
