Luria Nova

The realm of Luria Nova was founded by Duke Fulco, by way of seceding his city of Giask, after the fall of the Ice Queen Alanna Anaris.

History

Politics

Nobility

Luria Nova is currently in full expanse. New nobles are highly sought after. Any noble with a good head and a brave heart is welcome to join the ranks of Lurian nobility. Those who prove themselves to be loyal and dedicated may find themselves rewarded quickly.

Military

Luria Nova prides itself on a strong military tradition. From the early days of Pian en Luries, the Lurians have faced a never-ending onslaught of hordes invading their lands. In war against other realms, the Lurians are undefeated. The Lurian warrior is proud, brave and steadfast, and does not tremble before his foes, be they men or beasts. Lurian commanders are renowned for their tactical prowess and snatching victories from the jaws of defeat. More than once, they faced overwhelming odds, yet emerged victorious from battle. As such, successful warriors and commanders are held in high regard by Lurian society.

The Guardians of the Path

The backbone of the Lurian armies, the Guardians stand between the realm and any invaders who seek to harm her. It counts most of the Lurian nobles in its ranks. Currently led by Lord Kendal Forbes, High Constable of Luria Nova, they continue to protect the realm and expand its borders.

The Paladins of Tyr

The rapid response force of Luria Nova, the Paladins are tasked with missions that require swift movement and utmost dedication. Any hordes lucky enough to escape the Guardians will face the Paladins, and learn that they are not so lucky after all. The Paladins are composed of only the most reliable and dedicated nobles. Led by King Amaury himself, they are the spearhead of the Lurian forces.

Diplomacy

Luria Nova holds a strong allegiance to Pian en Luries. As many of the Novans once served in Pian en Luries, the Lurian realms are united by culture, war and history. Though both realms are by all means independent entities, they have a strong bond between them, and they cooperate when needed. It is not entirely uncommon to see armies crossing the river between Giask and Askileon, to assist one another in battle.

Friendly relations exist between Luria Nova and the two major Astromancer realms; Astrum and Morek. During his exile from Pian en Luries, King Amaury briefly served as a vassal of Vasilif Brance of Astrum, and as a result he considers both Brance and his Morekian counterpart Bustoarsenzio as friends. Therefor, a formal peace exists between Luria Nova on one hand and Astrum and Morek on the other.

After the Aurvandil rebellion, Luria Nova has extended a hand of friendship to Madina, as both realms understand all too well the malice of rebellious duchies. Trade agreements are currently being negotiated.

Currently, an uneasy truce is in effect between Luria Nova and the Grand Duchy of Fissoa. After years of hostilities between the two nations, they are making careful attempts at rekindling the old friendships that existed under Grand Duke Leon Agenor, and which were broken over time. Perhaps trade can be the catalyst needed for a true peaceful co-existence.

Luria Nova is openly hostile towards Caerwyn, on account of the Caerwynian campaign of rapine and slaughter against the people of Astrum. Though distance prevents any actual fighting, King Amaury has made it quite clear that Caerwyn needs not expect any friendship from the Lurians, so long as they have not made severe reparations for their heinous acts.

Luria Nova remains, on the surface at least, fairly neutral towards the other nations of Dwilight. Though nobody knows what truly goes on behind the veils of diplomacy...

Councils

Royal Lineage

King Fulco D'Este: First King of Luria Nova. As Duke of Giask at the time of the secession, he became the first king of the fledgling realm. Abdicated voluntarily in accordance with the Lurian tenets stipulating the division of power. Remains Duke of Giask to this day.

King Amaury Capet: Second King of Luria Nova. Exiled by Alanna after the Lurian Civil War, he became the driving force behind her downfall. He returned to his old homelands the very day of the secession, and became Luria Nova's first High Constable. After Fulco's abdication he was elected King, and reigns to this day.

OOC Stuff

Luria Nova has its own realm channel on IRC: Server QuakeNet, channel #lurianova. The entire council and many Lords and Knights hang out there. If you have questions you cannot ask IC, or if you just want to know more about the realm, be sure to pay the channel a visit.
