Personal History

Padraig, son of Fintan, followed closely on the heels of his twin brother Alasdair by leaving home shortly after they celebrated their 17th summers. But while Alasdair pledged his service to the family liege in Minas Ithil, Padraig was deeply moved by the stories of the struggling men on the far away island of Dwilight -- particularly the men of Ordenstaat, who stood bravely against the Daimon forces that sought to subjugate the human realms.

Upon his arrival in Ordenstaat, Padraig was inspired by the words of Zanarias Tian, Archon of the Argent Order, and joined the faith as a young initiate. That very night, a band of forest trolls swarmed out of the Rettlewood and towards the palisade protecting the town, and the Havershim Spears were instrumental in their destruction.

Soon after proving his worth on the field of battle, Padraig's oath of service was accepted by Duke Bryndon of Rettleville, and Padraig was honored to receive a commission as a commander of the Inferi Hunters.

With his Havershim Spears, Padraig joined the Hunters as they sought to reclaim the surrounding Rettlewood for Ordenstaat. Despite moving into the forest unopposed and beginning the slow process of restoring the region to the realm, a mere two days later they were beset by a marauding horde of undead. Despite the valiant efforts of his spearmen, Padraig was taken by the horde and imprisoned. Forced to submit to unspeakable tortures, Padraig was eventually released after a week, a broken man, an example to the nobles of Rettleville.

After several weeks of struggling to cope with both the physical and mental scars from his ordeal, Padraig has taken his Oath of service and become a Priest of the Argent Order.

Padraig served the Order for a time, ascending even to Archon status, under the tutelage of Silver Archon Zanaras Tian. During the unfortunate events surrounding the return and attempted coup of former Ordenstaat Grand Master Milmice Vecchio Ratto, the Silver Archon was placed under arrest due to accusations of colluding with the D'Haran forces seeking to assist Sir Milmice in his efforts. Unwilling to either admit or deny the accusations, the Silver Archon was banned from the Realm, and Archon Padraig divested himself of his position as Archon in order to once again take up arms in Ordenstaat's defense. In doing so, however, the Argent Order lost its last remaining priest, and faded from prominence in Ordenstaat.

Again in command of a unit of spearmen, Padraig joined an expedition to reclaim Twainville for Ordenstaat. When an eager noble overextended her reach, however, the efforts failed, and Padraig found himself captured and held prisoner by the Blood Claw tribe of trolls.

Upon his release, Padraig made his return to Rettleville, where he was to be sworn in as Grand Master of the Realm. Along the way, he was waylaid and nearly killed by the vengeance-driven Sir Milmice. Fortune favored him, however, as only a short time later a peasant patrol stumbled upon Sir Milmice as he slept and took him unawares. As Grand Master, the decision as to Sir Milmice's fate fell to Padraig, and with no other recourse, he asked the Justiciar to execute the former Grand Master.

Since then, Padraig has done his best to maintain Ordenstaat's strength and honor, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

Appearance and Personality

Driven by romantic daydreams over the coarse practicality of his brother, Padraig had allowed his hair to grow and thrive where Alasdair had always taken pains to cut it short. As a result, one of Padraig's great prides were his long, curly locks of hair. While he shared his brother's striking eyes, Padraig's were typically lit by the glint of merriment, which defused the severity of appearance that Alasdair seemed to take pains to nurture.

Following his week of hellish torture at the hands of the undead, however, Padraig took to wearing a hood and a mask of beaten copper that revealed only his eyes. Rumors are whispered in Ordenstaat about the vile things done to him by his tormenters, including the branding of terrible occult symbols into his face, the burning off of his prized hair, and the severing of his left arm at the elbow. Worst of all, the rumors say, is that words of horror were found carved into Padraig's chest when he was found. Whether warning, promise, or spell, however, only a few of Ordenstaat's nobles can say
