Again, I would stress that discussion remain within the student body (full members, not everyone). And I agree with Student Branthorpe. If the essay is to be written as impartial then impartial language should be used. If its openly written as one's perspective, then that should be stated for the record and the original language left.

I find the definition of a zealot fitting in this use, it is not a derogatory term. zealot - a. One who is zealous, especially excessively so. b. A fanatically committed person. Unless, of course, we are bringing into question the commitment of the members of the Church. I applaud Dean Bowie for his ability to be objective in what is a very complicated and personal situation. Regards,

Duke of Mimer, I fail to see how the original text offends and why the tone should be changed. Usurper Bowie was run out of the realm because he was not of the faith. It is quite clear that this is the reason and is a matter of fact. The act of discriminating against a man based on his faith (or lack there of) is persecution. Those who conducted the persecution were highly committed members of the Church of Sanguis Astroism. Committed to restoring the Theocracy. Both of these words, "persecutes" and "zealot", seem to fit the context. The rephrasing of the entry would introduce ambiguity into Brother Pasha's actions. Was he acting at his own behest or was he acting on behalf of the "Astromancers"? I think that the original text would provide the right level of detail that includes Brother Pasha as a committed member of the Church working to restore the Theocracy. These records will be kept for a long time and as such should properly reflect the context of the actions. Regards,

Academics, First, for clarification I have updated the chronology with a list of belligerents as suggested. Also I have added the alternative chronology provided by Student Pasha. Second, regarding the terminology, zealot is the proper word for faithful who take up arms in such a way that occurred. That is what a zealot does, and those who followed Priest Pasha were zealots. As for the term persecute, it is the most detailed word I could use as my estate was burned, my property was robbed and I was driven out from the realm. These actions done because I was not a member of their religion. That is persecution. We did the same thing to the Old Bat Katayanna and I used the same word in the Aquilegion history book. I quote: "Lady Katayanna was driven out of the realm by the High Inquisitor as an unbeliever causing a persecution to take place at her estate in Flow." That word was chosen then as well because her estate was burned and she was robbed and then the mob drove her out of the realm. In another word, we persecuted her. There really is no other word to use except one that will soften the event. I am sorry if it sounds scary or partisan, but that is the language and it is unintended.
