Zjan Family/Giro

Born into the Zjan family of Mnt. Sinclair in the realm of Darka. Youngest of three brothers, Giro has been physically a disappointment to this father who's only desire of his children where to make them into exemplary knights. Giro, even since his youth, has been overweight and slovenly. His short frame and lazy eye have gained him the constant ridicule of his family, although these words were always said without his knowledge. Perhaps the only thing that has changed since his youth is his now recently receding hairline. Giro always is blissfully unaware of his surroundings and of people's perceptions of him, generally to busy concentrating on the plates of food before him. It was because of Giro that his father adopted the son of a recently slain nearby noble (Aster, Giro's adopted brother) and placed his hopes of having a knightly son, worthy of his praise. Aster, upon his 17th birthday, made his intention of hunting out any remainder of his bloodline in another continent known. Angered that Aster was not to stay and serve the Darkan realm, Giro's father snatched the drumstick out of Giro's mouth, and told him to go to Azzal and start serving the Darkan realm (A family scribe named Joseph was ordered to accompany him). The cooks and dinner servants were rejoiced upon the news. Shocked, Giro headed out. The shock quickly dissipated as he remembered various family outings to the capital and the varied delectable feasts that could be found there. Surely the family gold his father placed in his pocket upon his departure would sustain many nights of joyous edible ecstasy. Gold ran short, quick. Scribe Jospeh, knowing Giro's physical shortcomings and his probable inability to be a knight (or a good one for that matter), urged Giro to make an oath to serve Darkanism as a stone bearer of Lodril. Free meals seemed motivation enough for the young Giro. After a finely penned letter (by Joseph mostly), Giro was taken into the flock.

Zjan Family/Gustav

Gustav, eldest of three brothers from the Zjan family of Mnt. Sinclair. His father's wishes of having a noble knight arise from his children initially rested upon Gustav's shoulders. He sent Gustav to Azzal at an early age to begin his training and Gustav initially had full interest in bringing his father's dreams to fruition. However, the city of Azzal changed all this. The busy capital offered a front row seat to big city economics and the trade that centered around it. Gustav continued his training for knighthood, and although not all of it was uninteresting to him, the nationalistic rantings and mercenary beliefs of Darka wore thin on him. He would spend all his extra time watching the city, the trade, the talk and how everyone functioned within it. He yearned for more, different cities, different realms, and found his plan for escape. He would begin his new life as a trader. Knowing the disapproval and hurt it would cause his father, he simply left the realm of his upbringing, and to this day his father believes him missing. His brothers, although, know differently. Gustav, is a quiet man, but suddenly comes to life when talking of or conducting his trade. Seen by most as brooding and antisocial, his clients see just the opposite. His clients see an outgoing, persuasive young man with a face that can be trusted. The varying perception of him are simply shown in the two nicknames he is commonly referred to as....."Gloomy Gustav" and "Good Ole Gus".
