Roleplay from Monterys Velaryon
The cover of darkness began to fall on the busy streets of Kalmar as Monterys and his faithful aide Goswin reached the temple of the Flames which was located on a small hill just north of the Spire of the Bewitching Siren. As they left the narrow serpentine streets behind them, the moon began to aggrandize in size and reached its full circle. It shone like on the night when Lyanna was taken away and Monterys began to relive the events that resulted in the disappearance of his wife. She left a void that no allegiance to a mortal man can make up for, and for many moons he was on a personal quest to find his way again, to atone for his failure to save her, and to steer his life into something more than just rage and despair. He let out a sigh, removed the hood of his olivaceous cloak and nodded towards Goswin to wait outside, and then entered the temple.

The temple in Kalmar was a large temple, yet the architectural splendor that he saw temples in Sirion had was just a wishful thinking in this place. The temple appeared very plain and simple, almost as if it was created for smallfolk only. The inside of the temple was built many of stone, there was no gold nor silver here, nor any other precious stones that abounded in the land that the elves built. Monterys found a small hidden room that was bare and empty of almost anything barring the oil pots which were many and arranged randomly. He took out several items from his pouch, placed them on the floor and knelt. He then took his items -- incense sticks and volcanic ash -- and dipped them into the oil. He lit a fire beneath the pot and waited. The oil in a pot began to warm up and slowly the colors began to appear on the surface. They looked purple and blue, but he was patient. As the oil began to burn, the flames rose higher and higher and Monterys gazed at them.

Purple imploded into red and the crimson flames soared almost to the ceiling. Blue dimmed and turned to black, producing only a small flame, overshadowed by the majestic red. Remembering the instructions of the Avatar of the Red Flame, Monterys began to comprehend the Aspects of the Flame. On his way out he looked for a temple priest and shared his experience. In return he was given a ruby and obsidian pebble, which he intended to etch into the pommel of his sword the next day. He found his gods, now he prayed they would save him.
