Van Dell Family/Diederik

Appearance

Thin and agile, with dark brown hair. He carries a sword, but it is little more than decoration; he can't hit anything to save his life.

Personality

Diederik was often treated as little more than an annoying child. Since he is the youngest of the family, he is frequently underestimated. Though he pretends it doesn't bother him and often plays along with their assumptions (Dirk doesn't particularly care about appearances and will feign stupidity for his own amusement), he secretly longs to prove himself.

History

Diederik spent most of his childhood hiding from his quarrelsome older sisters, in his uncle's study. Alwin was a curmudgeonly old man, but he tolerated his presence and prevented certain noisy, trouble-making persons from entering. Because he spent most of his time surrounded by books and paper, Diederik has more skill with a quill than with a blade.

He left his home continent, Atamara, not long after he turned 17. He wanted no part in his sisters' feud and it was not possible to avoid either of them by staying at home. During his time as a squire, he snuck aboard a ship heading toward the East Continent.
