Obeji Family

-Family History-

Hisham Obeji, once proud general of an Arab nation, is father of Tipherus, Mark Anthony, and Octavia Obeji. While on conquest in Latin lands, after defeating the general of the opposing army, he mercifully took in his two children, Octavia and Mark Anthony, who were ten and five years old at the time. First intending to make the two his servants, he grew to care for the children, taking them in as his own after six months. What attracted him most to the two were their good looks, which both children had more than enough of.

From a young age, Mark Anthony showed a sophistication usually reserved for much older nobles, which is often mistaken for him being cold hearted. He was always looked at as a genius child, often looking over his fathers’ battle plans and critiquing them with Hisham. Mark Anthony’s good looks, intelligence, and elegance propelled him into Hisham’s heart, feeling that he finally had a son to be proud of, as his own son Tipherus was more of a grungy, careless boy.

Octavia’s skill with weapons always seemed sort of contradictory, as she was so beautiful and did not seem as she should be dabbling in fighting. She is more or less the opposite of Mark Anthony, very kind, never let petty things both her, and seemingly cared more for the working peasant class than she does snobby nobles. However Octavian and Mark Anthony were closer than could be imagined, even though they were so different. Hisham’s loved her as a daughter and tried as best as he could to shield her from any harm.

Tipherus, was the same age as Mark Anthony and Hisham’s only real child. He proved to be a snobbish boy from a young age, quite different from that of Mark Anthony’s personality. While they both seemed to be snobbish, Mark Anthony was restrained and did not talk much, rather letting other people talk to learn about them, which was often confused with pretentious behavior. Tipherus however, was actually a snob, acting like he was above all, and caring for little. People always seemed to wonder why the two were not close, thinking that they were so much alike, when in fact they could not be any more different. Tipherus did however love Octavia like a sister, although it was hard for him to show it.

-The Breaking of the Family-

While on an excursion into the Latin lands, Hisham invited both Mark Anthony and Tipherus at the age of sixteen to give them both some battle experience. Even though Mark Anthony and Tipherus did not get along that well, Mark Anthony trusted Tipherus, which would turn out to be a near fatal mistake. However, Tipherus loathed Mark Anthony, and had grown very jealous of him, since his father had started to show his love more for him than himself.

While the two of them fought side by side in battle against barbarians, Tipherus made an attempt on Mark Anthonys life, trying to hit him in the head with a spiked flail. Mark Anthony saw the attack coming at the last second, and saved his own life, but not completely avoiding the attack. The spikes had dragged down his face, leaving a scar over his left eye, and tree scares over his mouth.

Tipherus was quickly apprehended by his father’s soldiers after the attack, and Mark Anthony quickly taken to the healers. When Hisham heard of the attempt on Mark Anthony’s life, he banished Tipherus, stripping him of everything and condemning him to live among the peasants. Mark Anthony would never forgive Tipherus, feeling that his father’s punishment was not enough he looked for Tipherus for four years trying to find him, only to kill him himself. When Octavia found out what happened, she was greatly saddened, and cried for many nights after.

Seeing that his sons were trying to kill each other deeply affected Hisham, and soon after banishing Tipherus, he died of unknown causes. Octavia would go on to say that he died of a broken heart, and remained sad for the whole time Mark Anthony searched for Tipherus, not wanting him to kill him, but wanting him to come back as soon as possible.
