Roleplay from Ludovico Sforza (8 days, 16 hours ago)

Ludovico overlooked the streets of Giask from his estate balcony. It did not look like much of a city at the time, but that would rapidly change. Each day, more people flocked to the area to settle themselves. Most were simple commonfolk, but also merchants, craftsmen and bureaucrats. All around his mansion, houses, shops and other buildings rose like mushrooms. But even though Giask was dirt poor compared to other provinces, it had attracted less desirable people. Thieves, beggars, lepers and other rabble mingled with the immigrants and dispersed amongst the populace. Ludovico turned around and went back into his private quarters, where he had started a small personal library. Ludovico was very interested in history, so most of the books were about that subject. But amongst them was one that caught his eye. A thick book with an ornate cover that read 'The Elements: Legends and Myths of the New World'. Ludovico took it from the shelf, sat down in his chair with a cup of wine, and started reading.

There were many myths, but one caught his attention. It told of two rival gods, the God of Fire and the God of Lightning, who used men to fight each other for dominance over humanity. To do so, the legends say that they crafted magical items which allowed the strongest of men to harness the power of the Elements. The men who wielded these artifacts were said to have risen to great power, as they became known as the Divine Warriors, henchmen of the gods themselves... "Every legend has a root in facts...", Ludovico said to himself. He needed to know more. If these items existed, he had to have them! Even if they were just worthless trinkets, the pagan peasantry might see them as the legendary items of which the myths spoke. And those who possessed them might rise to great power.

"SCRIBE!!"

Immediately, a scribe entered the room. "Yes, my lord?"

"Send out riders to all corners of the kingdom.", he said, "Tell them to find and bring a commoner named Nina Tai to me. Tell her that the Duke of Giask wishes to see her. Go. Now."

"At once, my lord.", the scribe said before leaving the room.

Ludovico leaned back in his chair, a malicious grin on his face. Ludovico Sforza, Divine Warrior... the mere thought of it filled him with excitement.
