The senate door opened and Tamerran slid through the gap. Silently he moved to Evangeline, delivering the scrolls detailing the enemies movements north.

The short man seemed somewhat different. Usually relying on his brother Ganimede to interact on his behalf, his eyes had a resigned almost sad appearance.

Before he left he glanced toward the throne, where the Queen sat, the High Marshal by her side. Evangeline noticed his nostrils flare slightly, and knew that he had noticed the same thing as herself. Without Ganimede's prompting, the General hadn't bathed for some days.

"Thankyou Tam" Evangeline said quietly.

Clarissa sat upon the throne in the capital, a place she's seen so rarely lately...when was the last time she was in Partora...and though she acted as she didn't, she saw the short interaction between Tammeran and Evangeline. After Tamerran left, Clarissa's chin dipped to her chest, and she mumbled something under her breath, low enough that even the unkept ][osferatu couldn't hear.

Clarissa cleared her throat, stood from her throne, and said loudly, and with a very authoritative voice, "Lady Evangeline, please join me in the antechamber, I wish to speak with you briefly." Oh, Clarissa felt so silly speaking like that, but there was the appearance she needed to maintain.

Evangeline, still holding the scout reports handed to her by Tammeran, nearly jumped out of her skin. She's never had a private meeting with the Queen before.

Evangeline quickly followed Clarissa into the antechamber, passing off the scrolls to General ][osferatu as she passed by.

Lady Evangeline,

"If you could please, pass this 75 gold to Tammeran. He will need it for training." Noticing the look on Evangeline's face, it was twisted in confusion. She continued.

"I promised Ganimede that I would sponsor his brother in his training, and though we've had...our differences, I intend to uphold that promise."

"Oh, and do not tell him where it came from. Just tell him it's from his benefactor."

With that, the Queen exited the antechamber, to continue her duties as Queen.

Within the Queens antechamber...

As the door closed behind Evangline, she wondered what the Queen was thinking.

Although she had started her service earlier than Evangeline, she was only a year older and Evangeline knew that she had been facing difficult times. The abruptness of Eleron's letter, Ganimede leaving and even knowing she had little time for her beloved Foreign - would all add to the pressures surrounding her. Yet she was managing to maintain a level of dignity and pride, something that was earning Evangline's respect.

As the two women stood facing one another the Queen began to speak, "If you could please, pass this 75 gold to Tammeran. He will need it for training."

Evangeline looked quizzically at the Queen. She had heard of the Queen's encounter with Kalim, and now this. Perhaps she was trying to make amends.

"I promised Ganimede that I would sponsor his brother in his training, and though we've had...our differences, I intend to uphold that promise."

"Oh, and do not tell him where it came from. Just tell him it's from his benefactor."

As the Queen began to exit Evangeline interrupted, excusing herself,

"My Queen, Tamerran is heading back to Poitiers, where he will surely stay for a long time. He will have little use for training money there."

The Queens eyes gave no hint to Evangeline what she was thinking, but Evangeline continued - unsure of the reaction she might encounter, but reluctant not to speak her mind.

"Tamerran may appreciate this gesture. However, I think if you spoke to him..."

"Tamerran may appreciate this gesture. However, I think if you spoke to him..."

She let her words trail off.

Evangeline waited for a reply, but the Queen simply left the room. She sighed, knowing that she should send the bonds to Tamerran as her Queen requested.
