Uceek Family/Evangeline/Battle in Bescanon
Grim determination distorted Evangeline’s features and she gripped the hilt of her battle worn sword, it was about time it drew enemy blood. Her eyes scanned the fortifications and she could see the archers awaiting Perdan’s army. While she waited for Marshal Keyoke’s signal the wind whipped at her legs and she thanked the Gods.
As the signal came the troops began to swarm towards Bescanon. The enemy archers wasted no time and the sky was momentarily black from arrows raining down upon them. As they reached the wall, infantry units left the safety of fortifications to meet them in close combat – while the arrows continued to rain down. Evangeline and her Angels flurried among the enemy causing enormous damage. She turned to see 4 of her comrade’s fall.
“Onward!!”, she screamed to her troops. They continue their advance – 4 siege engines are upon the wall. She sees the face of the enemy. It is tired and sick from being away from home. The Perdan troops are full of zeal, impassioned by the sickening brutality the enemy forces have unleashed on their fair lands. The poor enemy infantry are just cannon fodder to the might of Perdan, barely scratching the soldiers as they push on to the walls. Evangeline calls to her troops as they squeeze through the heavily overcrowded siege engines to mount the fortifications. Her she comes face-to-face with the bulk of their army. Heavily outnumbered they continue to fight. Around her the Angels begin to fall, 18, 2 and then the final 11.
Evangeline stops and hides, she would gather her wounded troops and return to Perdan. Looking around grimly she knew that although the battle was lost, Perdan had succeeded that day.
