The Four Pillars

  1. Looting of Tol Goldoran lands is forbidden. Looting the lands of other realms may be allowed by the Autarch or the Stratarch during wartime. Looting rogue lands is explicitly allowed.
  2. Duels to surrender are legal. Duels to the death are legal except during wartime, where they may only be issued against nobles found guilty of treason.
  3. Religion is not mandated by law, except that nobles are free to worship their own gods as they please. However, lords hold final control over who can preach in their lands, unless this would interfere with the major religions laws.
  4. Magic is tolerated, just don't do it here if it's going to bother your neighbors.

Gylden Law

  • Treason through rebellion or working with our enemies will be met with banishment and then assassination.
  • Any noble who seeks the service of an assassin to harm their fellow nobles will be banished.
  • No noble will question the noble birthright of another. If there is an immediate apology, only a fine will be given. Failure to withdraw a statement will result in banishment.
  • Base and vulgar insults to fellow nobles will be punished by fine, the amount to be appropriate to the level of insult and the income of the accused based on the judgement of the Vestarch.
  • The Vestarch serves at the pleasure of the realm, with power divested from the Autarch. Their judgements are final and binding unless directly countermanded by the Autarchy.

Gylden Code of Trade

Tol Goldora is a large realm that has long since granted its lords many freedoms that other realms rarely get to see. It is with that in mind, that we must acknowledge that some of these freedoms may be abused. When that happens, it is hard to hear that the actions can influence the realm's treatment of the many. To that end, the realm hereby makes the following definitions:

  • (The) Market: The overall concept of trading, as well as the bureaucratic office overseeing the transportation of goods
  • Granaries: Places where regional food is stored.
  • Buy Orders: Orders placed by region lords to bring food into their regions.
  • Sell Orders: Orders placed on the market to offer food stored in the Granaries to the buying public
  • Foreign Trade: The buying or selling of food to nobles/regions outside of Tol Goldora's dominion and/or noble ranks
  • Realm Trade: The buying or selling of food to nobles/regions within Tol Goldora's dominion and/or noble ranks.
  • Hoarding: When a lord has closed his granary to the Sakellion and is not putting his excess supply of bushels on the market, creating an artificial food shortage in other Tol Goldoran regions.

With regard to these definitions, the following laws are put forth regarding market regulations within the realm, adding new dynamics and codifying old ones:

  • No one may place Sell Orders for Foreign Trade without the express permission of the council
  • The Sakellion and Autarch have the right to demand a lord open their granaries in order to feed a region if a lord is engaging in Hoarding practices.
  • During war time, all Lords expected to open their granaries upon request to the Sakellion in order to provide coverage in the event that Buy and Sell orders cannot be placed.
    • Refusal to open granaries upon a valid request will result in a fine, not less than, but not limited to, 100 gold for insubordination, and endangerment of the realm
  • Price caps will be implemented to prevent the gouging of market prices. The price cap may be set by the Sakellion at his discretion.
    • Punishment for violating price caps will start with a warning, then a fine of 20 gold per 100 bushels on the market over price (rounded up to the fine tier)
  • Lord's have the right to maintain Buy and Sell orders, but the Sakellion also has the right to issue them

Violation of these laws, and further offenses beyond the outlined fines, may warrant a harsher punishment at the Vestarch's discretion.

Zuma

  • Should you encounter them, do not, under any circumstances, seek to interfere with the Zuma. It will end terribly for you and everyone in your general vicinity.
  • If you must speak to the Zuma, be certain that at all times you speak respectfully to them, especially if you are addressed directly. Use gender neutral honorifics. Be concise and accurate in everything you say. Do your best to appear non-threatening. Do not presume to speak down to them, no matter your station. Historically, the Zuma are prone to go to great lengths to hunt down anyone they believe has offended them in order to extract their pound of flesh. Literally.
  • Travel to the lands of the Zuma Coalition is strictly forbidden except by permission of the Autarch.

Amendments

Expanded Religious Protections Under Pillar 3

Tol Goldora is a multi-faceted realm allowing freedom of religious expression. To that end, the realm hereby makes the following definitions.

  • Multi-Faith: Tol Goldora does not having a dedicated state religion. No matter how strong a faith gets, it will not take priority over the cultural good of Tol Goldora.
  • Major Faith: A major faith is determined on a region by region basis, and is typically when 1 in 4 and 1 in 3 follow a faith in a region. ((OOC: It shows up on the region page as a major faith))
  • Freedom of Religious Expression: Every noble has the right to follow and worship their own Gods as they see fit as long as it does not put them in violation of the laws of Tol Goldora.

With regard to these definitions, the following regulations are put forth regarding the protections of faith in the realm:

  • All temples and other places of religious significance belonging to the Major Faiths of a region are forbidden from being torn down
  • Region Lords are free to dictate what faiths may and may not preach in their regions.
    • Region Lords have the right to tear down any temples of non-Major Faiths in their regions
    • Violation of this law carries a fine proportionate to the damage done and the region's wealth. 30% of the region's estimated income ((OOC: Seen on the region page in the realm) mutiplied by the temple's size level, rounded up to the nearest fine.
      • Example: Demyansk is estimated to take in 323 gold, and the temple is level 3 = a fine of 291--> rounded to 300.
      • Example: Golden Farrow is estimated to take in 3086 gold, and the temple is level 3 = a fine of 2777 gold --> rounded to 2800 gold
  • Any punishments that would exceed the fining threshold will be dealt with at the Vestarch and Autarch's discretion.
  • All fines will be split accordingly with the harmed religion at a 50%/50% rate with a default to the Autarch in the event that no claimant exists among the nobility of Tol Goldora. In the event of more than one claimant among the nobility, the split shall go to the highest ranked member of the faith. Equal ranks will be determined at the Autarch's discretion.
  • Repeated offenses may include harsher punishments including, but not limited to, harsher fine rates, loss of standing for future lordships, and/or the prevention of reaffirming existing ones in the event of losing one's title.
  • Failed attempts at closing a major-faith temple will result in a fine of half the successful attempt at a rate of 15% the region's estimated income multiplied by the temple level. All fines under this clause go to the realm.
