Ecuo's start

Ecuo, and the few remaining relatives they had left, fled from the region and moved to the lordly estate in Ar Mosul for safety. Most of their family had been slaughtered, their home was no longer safe. His youth was much like that of his brother. They had to study harder, play less. No longer the warm presence of his mother, and Ecuo always had been more a child of his mother.

When Ecuo turned 17 he too went away much like his brother. But while his father had worked hard on raising gold and recognition for their family he was not capable of expanding this much further. He told Ecuo that it was up to him and his brother to expand the family name. It was said that the oldest of the two, Aeneas, would remain in Ibladesh. Ecuo himself moved to the continent of Atamara. To expand the family name of the Quintus Ennius there. For it was on that Continent where his mother, now deceased, originally came from.

Life in Carelia (Atamara)

Ecuo arrived on the continent of Atamara after a long journey by ship. He had the parchment with him that proved his nobility. Yet he was new to the lands, unaware of anything that happened on the island. He had read a few books about the history of the island on the ship and he had studied the maps. When his mother spoke of the lands of her origin she often repeated the name of one city: Wayburg. It was there where he believed he should go to. After examining the maps he found the city of Wayburg under the control of the lords and ladies of Carelia, so there he went.

Ecuo found himself in a nation that was on the brink of war, after he had sworn loyalty to Duke Roderian Dragoria of Wayburg he moved to Strombran, which was the capital city of Carelia. He recruited up a unit with the gold he had received from his father and he moved out to support the Carelians in their war against the Cagilan Empire. For more than 2 years Ecuo was busy marching and fighting. Constantly with fresh new troops trained, but not accustomed to the battlefield yet. But neither was Ecuo really, he had never witnessed this much blood, so much death. Unlike his brother Aeneas Ecuo was not a man of war by nature, only because he had too he fought. In the meantime he had become Marshal of the Iron Hearts of Carelia, an elite army among Carelian ranks. But still this was not who he was.

The City of Wayburg was cut off from Carelia and was starving most of the time. Duke Roderian could very well use some help as it was hard to maintain the city properly and so Ecuo decided to change his career. No longer would he fight against the bully of Atamara, he would now assist his liege in Wayburg City as a courtier.
