CURRENT AFFAIRS

War on the Islands

On November 15th Prime Minister Handow lowered relations with the Kalmar Islands down to Neutral...and on November the 16th, Sirion's Army will have set foot in Stora for the first time--ever. If KI and AS weren't allies, Sirion probably wouldn't of had to lower relations with KI, but the Avamar Selective is a realm that should not be resurrected--or the Sirionites will be there to crush them every step of the way. Once you swear to weaken Sirion, and choose war to the death in lieu of anything else...you get death, forever. -Doc

Update

Prime Minister Handow issued an Official statement regarding our change in diplomacy: "Even though Kalmar Island wants their regions back from Avamar Selective they defend them. Since Kalmar Island wants to keep supporting Avamar Selective and not withdrawn from Avamar Selective then our relationship with them has been lowered."

Contradictions run deep on those dark Islands...but Sirion must do what she must do. Keep up the good work, Prime Minister Handow! -Doc

2nd Update

6kCS of allied troops have been wasted on Stora...folks that arrived WAY too early. Their casualties were absolute, and their effectiveness virtually nill. As it stands, the upcoming battle is going to be quite a challenge. The Avamarians have managed to raise a HUGE army, unlike any that realms with twice their income can raise on their own...we only pray that this siege of the AS will be over before Christmas. If Perdan were to aid us in this endeavour sooner than later, we will surely, be finished by Christmas. -Doc

Allied victory in Stora!!

Despite all the forces the allies sacrificed in the name of personal ineptitude at a micro-level--ie particular citizens mistakenly arriving too early for whatever reasons--they were victorious and crushed the defending forces. I knew that victory was inevitable in Stora...I smelled the Angel of Death fly by with her Minions...and she left me a black rose with a small note attached: "Thank you for keeping me busy" she wrote, and then she said "P.S. that cough of yours is music to my ears, but worry not, you will smile wide today and live to see why." I think death is hitting on me already...but I guess that is normal for old men my age. Keep strong, Sirionites, and drive the Avamarians to the ground--again--so that an uninterrupted peace may reign on this Island yet. -Doc

Offer the Avamarians a 'place to call their own' in Skezard?

Several nobles--perhaps just rambling about an impossible possibility--have suggested that Sirion offer the Avamarians a place of isolation in Skezard. I personally do not feel it is feasible for a number of reasons, but cutting to the chase, I doubt that the Avamarians would be happy with a place to truely call their own. The nobles of Avamar are not a peace loving nation, they always cite how cultural they are, and how they have interests in the arts, and the such...but when it boils down to it, the Avamarians are a chaotic people. They enjoy creating struggles, inciting wars, and inviting conflict. Would the Avamarians be happy in Skezard? Could they ever learn to settle, and pursue their interests...or will their thirst for violence and bloodshed prove too overwhelming--again? Maybe Handow can ask their Pontifex. -Doc

Clarification:

The idea proposed is a penal colony set up in Skezard to contain dangerous criminals such as Lalakis and One. These men have staged violent coups no matter where they go with little regards for human life. They will be put on Skezard and isolated from the rest of the continent if they are captured in the future. Any attempt to escape will be met with blads of our infiltrators. There is also another proposal which carries a much more strict form of punishment, but that is still being discussed. Personally I would feel much better if Lalakis' head was hanging from a pole in my backyard and used as a piñata for my kids. -Adrian

Fortification upgraded in Slimbar

In a small ceremony today, Duke Boom Boom placed the final stone on Slimbar's newly built level 4 fortification. Construction on the stronghold took months to complete, but it was worth the effort. The city will be able to resist invasion by the deadly forest squirrels from now on. -Adrian

Speedy calls another shiesty tournament

The first time that Ubent called a tournament with entries of 15 gold, and small winning pots...I thought to myself "Well, they just ended a costly war. They must be broke and need some funds. I'll support them since they surrendered and have played a major role in the peace process down south." However, today, after several weeks of peace...they have done it again. Have the Ubentian people no pride?

A pot of 400 gold is hardly worth more than an entry of 10 gold....but charging 50% more than that is just plain greedy. Normally, 160+ nobles show up to tournaments--more during peacetime--so let us assume that only 160 nobles show up and pay the ridiculous 15 gold. That would leave Ubent with an entry collection of 2400 gold. How much did it cost to host this tournament? No more than 1400 gold. The last two spectactular tournies hosted by Sirion and Perdan respectively each had *well* over 220 participants...the total collected would be 3300+ if the same thing happens again. That would leave Ubent with a massive profit of at /least/ 1900 gold, already more than 135% in earnings! This is one tournament I will not be attending, and I encourage all Sirionites not to encourage such thievery. I do not believe in banditry, and will not support speedy in his thirst for undeserving gold. Host a *real* tournament, and I--along with the others that share similar values--will too. -Doc

Update:

It has been confirmed by various reliable sources that other nations in the south HAD plans of hosting a tournament. Ubent was asking around if they could host one, and Perdan said she was going to host it...others said they wanted to as well after Perdan. This is the single most selfish action I have ever seen as far as tournaments go! How could a nation circumvent her neighbors like this? What of the Citizens of Ubent, who supposedly, "don't do anything without a vote?" Can they all be so despicable and self-centered? My only hopes are that Prime Minister speedy issues a formal apology to the said nations that publicly expressed an interest prior to this debachaury, so as to avoid hurt feelings. I have seen such insults lead to war...sometimes immediately, and at other times, later on...such humiliation and lewdness cannot go unmentioned! -Doc

Islands campaign a success

Allies virtually destroyed 70% of hostiles in the area, and destroyed over 60% of AS's military infrastructure. On this small experimental campaign Sirion only sent about half of her troops. The next wave will bring roughly 20% more men, as we further test our strategies/travel times in this new territory, before comitting our usual 85% mobile army to offensive campaigns. -Doc

Update:

The Avamarian General claims that all damages have been fixed. Since I haven't seen reports saying they have, or have not been, for now I'll assume he is correct. However, enlarging/building RCs left and right is something they simply cannot afford to keep on doing. Further, troops come from the regions...each soldier that dies...leaves one less soul in the region...the Avamarians may have a "tough spirit" and "interesting methods of acquiring war funds," but the reality of things is simple: Inevitable defeat. The next time Sirion comes, their regions will more than likely be depopulated through the numerous battles that will surely take place, and as the Avamarians forcefully draft tons of unfit locals to join their unrurly ranks, well, the consequences are obvious. How many more attacks can the people of this "Avamar Selective" truely endure? Not many. No matter how dillusional the 'leadership' may be, the reality for those poor locals is nothing short of grim. For the sake of the region I only pray those Avamarians abandon ship, and swim somewhere else...because their banner will never fly into the distant future(s) so long as Sirion is around. -Doc

Elections rolling around again

This election should prove interesting. Our Judge, Hyraltic, is going to be removed from his position because of inactivity! My only hopes are that people adjust their votes so that he isn't re-elected...we need a judge present for various "unfinished tasks" lying about in Sirion.

Further, Prime Minister Handow appears to run unopposed. A young woman by the name of Evangelina asked whether or not anyone else was going to challenge Handow. No one has thus far stepped up, but I sent a report to the realm asking anyone who feels their future lies in Sirion's leadership to please run. For those that do not know, I am now a Mentor in Sirion, also offering all my knowledge to Sirion's Future Leaders: The Youth. It is imperative that others get interested in government affairs or what happens, say, should Handow dissapear? Get Captured? Get Seriously wounded? Is there NO ONE with the desire to serve Sirion more as its Prime Minister? -Doc
