The Tasartir Family Blazon

From Loyalty, Strength

The Tasartir family hails from Ambermel, in the Atamaran kingdom of Redspan. Not as well established as many of the older houses in the world, the Tasartirs strive to improve their status through honorable means.

The three male scions of House Tasartir have all reached their majority and are now out making a name for themselves as Knights.

Elenar

The eldest of the sons of the Tasartir, Elenar has taken up arms for his home kingdom, Redspan and served honorably in many skirmishes and battles against Tara and the Cagilan Empire during the Taran War. After the end of the war, he undertook the training of his unit of the Tasartir's Own, Auraen Company, into an elite and powerful infantry unit. When Byblack and Sullenport were returned by the Ash Sea Islands to Redspan, Elenar and Auraen Company aided in the incorporation of the new territories into mainstream Redspan culture, and may Da Goat be the witness to that.

With the declaration of war by Darka, Auraen Company was reinforced and readied, but no invading horde arrived for nearly two months. During that time, Elenar and his men engaged in the defense of their homes against monster and undead uprisings. However, when Darka finally struck, alongside Talerium and a few lackeys from Barony of Makar, Auraen Company was away on maneuvers in Abington. After a forced march home, Elenar and Auraen fought in the defense of the realm, climatically at Sullenport, and again in Meldeen, where Auraen was destroyed and Elenar captured. At the end of the war Elenar was released.

At the beginning of the short-lived Rogeshore War Elenar was involved in a death duel after a noble lady, Min, insulted the name and honor of Elenar's close friend Benny Kimura. Though Benny would not acquiesce to Min's desire for a duel, Elenar stepped in and challenged her. After much anticipation Elenar prevailed, though he did not kill Min, only seriously wounding her.

Niallan

Originally Niallan sought a realm on Atamara to fight for that was farther from home, and he found that in Minas Ithil. However, though serving honorably in major battles between Minas Ithil and Abington, he developed certain doubts regarding the honor and decency with which Minas Ithil and its "nobles" carried themselves. After listening to illogical rants about the "gross oversized" state of Abington (nothing more than envy) from many different Ithilians and feeling the tug of his conscience to resist injustice, Niallan left Minas Ithil to fight for Abington, who deserved his loyalty.

His reception in Abington was surprisingly warm considering he had defected from a realm at war with Abington, and he made good his pledges to serve his new home faithfully and to the best of his ability. Commanding Bravo Company of Tasartir's Own, he participated in the defeat of colonizing forces from the North, including troops from Minas Ithil, and the pursuit and destruction of marauding Darkan dogs in the last campaigns of the War of Annihilation.

After the end of tensions Niallan contributed funds for the renovation of realm recruitment centers. Afterwards, Bravo Company was assigned to the City of Wayburg as militia, as the existing militia had been devastated by the war, and Niallan received command of Desota Company. When Darka declared war on RedSpan, Niallan and Desota Company were part of the Abington force marshaled and sent to Stargard in support of Abington's Federation brothers. When the threat of actual Darka military action diminished after a long, uneventful week of waiting, Niallan, along with the other nobles in the impromptu Redspan Defense Force, returned to Abington.

The realm was a peace and stronger than ever. Events in the north had shifted attention away from Abington and other Southern Alliance realms, and for the time being Niallan thought Abington would be safe. Thus, when he received news of a new kingdom taking shape in Beluaterra, called the Kingdom of Alluran, and with few nobles, Niallan (after writing an emotional goodbye) sailed for Beluaterra and new opportunities.

After working as a trader under her Excellency the Lady Altheda helping to feed the people of Eno, Niallan was promoted to the Royal Treasurer position when Lady Altheda stepped down. He has since been engaged in a mighty struggle to keep the sinkhole known as Eno fed.

Linoren

The youngest Tasartir knight, Linoren left Atamara for the South East Island, drawn by the news of constant, glorious battle. He admits that his reasoning for leaving sounds rather adolescent, but he has always wanted to go and fight. Thus, entrusted with the command of Carain Company, Linoren sailed for SEI. There, he fought for months on the side of Ikalak, participating in many great battles in the borderlands of Taselak.

However, tiring of ceaseless warfare with little gain and wishing to make his mark in another realm Linoren departed Sandalak and traveled to Beluaterra, to the realm of Plergoth. There he swore fealty to Countess Dedmerath of Prevos and gained the canton of Grandbourg.

Tasartir's Own Dragoons Regiment

The Tasartir's Own Dragoons is the household regiment of House Tasartir. Command of each of its Companies has traditionally been passed down through the sons of the family, and each son of House Tasartir currently commands a Company.

1st Battalion (Dismounted)

Auraen Company

The senior Company in the Regiment, Auraen is commanded by Elenar, the eldest son of House Tasartir. It saw action in the Taran War and served as Goat-keeping forces during the incorporation of Sullenport and Byblack into Redspan. Composed of well-trained and motivated infantrymen from Ambermel, Auraen Company fought the Darkan/Talerium invasion force. After taking a hundred percent casualties in the defense of Sullenport, Elenar rallied the last few stalwarts of Auraen for the assault to liberate Meldeen. Unfortunately in that battle, Elenar was captured by Darkans and the Company was destroyed.

After Elenar's release the Company was reformed, serving in both the Rogeshore War and more recently the campaign in the Barony. There, at the battle of Fiddleford, Auraen fought bravely on the front lines, killing many Vikings before finally succumbing to its wounds.

Battle Honors:

Taran War - Meldeen, Tandsu, (some others but those records have been lost)

Abington's War of Attempted Annihilation - Lurgrod

RedSpan-Darkan War - Sullenport, Meldeen

The Barony Campaign - Fiddleford

Bravo Company

Led by Niallan when he first left Ambermel for Minas Ithil, Bravo Company served honorably in several campaigns, accruing battle honors fighting in Wayburg during the War of Annihilation on both sides of the conflict. The Company later fought in the campaign to rid Suville and southern Abington of the Darkan infestation. When the Abington High Council called upon its nobles to donate their units to help rebuild the militia for the City of Wayburg, shattered after several enemy takeover attempts, the Company was reassigned to its defense and, in a unprecedented event, Colonel Tasartir gave orders for Niallan to give command of the company to his second in command and take a new Company, Desota. Bravo served on the watch of Wayburg for months before finally it was deactivated and its men sent home.

Battle Honors:

War of Annihilation

(With Minas Ithil) - Chasnoff, Wayburg

(With Abington) - Chasnoff, Wayburg, Suville

Carain Company

Commanded by Linoren in Ikalak, the Carain have fought Taselak forces in several engagements and battles. At the Battle of Falens on Feb. 25, 2007, the Company took 100% percent casualties. In the following withdrawal to Sandalak, all the wounded died. After this, Carain became inactive.

After Linoren left Ikalak for Plergoth, the Carain returned under its honored banner, this time to fight for Plergoth.

Battle Honors:

SEI War - Moeth, Falens, Belus

2nd Battalion (Dismounted)

Desota Company

The current command of Niallan Tasartir after giving up Bravo to the Wayburg militia, Desota has shown itself to be a strong and capable infantry unit. Its early service saw the suppression of infiltrators in Eno. When Niallan began a trader Desota followed. At the Battle of Ardmore, where Desota joined its brethren from Riombara in fighting Enweil and Luz de Bia, the Company was on the front lines. Desota valiantly smashed at the enemy before being overwhelmed. When the Company was reinforced in Eno, it fought in several actions against LdB forces in Brovyl, giving a good account of itself in those battles. The Company is now in reserve, serving as guards in the great Treasury in Eno.

Battle Honors:

War against Luz de Bia: Ardmore (Jan 2, 2007), Brovyl (Jan 7-8, 2007)

3rd Battalion (Mounted)

Galairn Squadron

After the catastrophic losses Carain Company took in the battle of Falens, Linoren Tasartir formed a new, cavalry-based squadron. Galairn has just been recruited, but the fighting is never far. The Squadron was disbanded when Linoren left Ikalak.

Battle Honors:

SEI War - Moeth, Falens

Hephyr Squadron

A new cavalry squadron recently recruited by Niallan. As of yet it is still unblooded.
