Is War By Proxy the Future?
April 21st, 2007

Seems to me that fighting other people's wars has become the trend here in Atamara. With Talerium being the last realm to become involved in one of two central conflicts, we now have a World War... by proxy.

Here are the players and the sides they are playing on:

Norland / Barony of Makar vs. Minas Ithil
Norland/BoM Proxies - Abington
Minas Ithil Proxies - Cagilan Empire and Talerium
The earlier assistance of CE boosted MI during the start of the war. Abington's later arrival and surprise strike at MI's rear soon gave the advantage to Norland/BoM. A second Abington Wave was intercepted and destroyed in Falasan by blocking Talerium Forces. As of this printing, advantage seems to be with Norland/BoM as the Abington Strike allowed them to make and maintain the inroads into MI Regions. Whether CE can return it all to equilibrium remains to be seem.

Eston vs. Falasan
Eston Proxies - Tara, Redspan? and Darka
Falasan Proxies - Ash Sea Islands and Carelia
Advantage was clearly with Eston from the start as the beleaguered Falasan Troops faced potential attack from 2 Fronts. Forced to cede 3 Regions to survive, Falasan now is being slowly dismantled every few weeks as the mighty Darkan Mercenaries swing back and forth against their crumbling defenses. With Tara holding a purely defensive role, Eston seems set on taking Barad Falas. Unless Falasan can solve this, it is likely the war will end when Eston's flag flies over the Rabbit City.

Needless to say, the politics of the situation are conflicting and sometimes literally impossible to deal with. Hopefully, the violence will breed even more and we can have real chaos instead of this farce.

Where goes Talerium?
April 8th, 2007

The little wars in the northeast have now consumed every realm of Atamara. Every realm, that is, except Talerium. With the mighty army of Abington reported to be moving north to fight Minas Ithil and the Cagilan Empire, Talerium is now the last of the uncommitted. I am still having trouble following who is allied to who in this fracas. Certainly, the time Talerium can stay neutral is running very short.

Final Words of Thor, Former Duke of Foda
April 2nd, 2007

This letter was found in a sealed envelop alongside Thor's remains. May the Gods forgive him...

I am tired of this realm having two RL friends in control! They only do what they want and listen to no one. This realm used to be a great realm. There was a lot more fun and order when Achilles was in power and Lister was our general. At least than we had a balance of what each wanted to do. Now we have two players that only do what they want to, with little consequence to them. Since they hold the top two spots of our realm. This is not what I live for. This is not what I have bled for. Dictatorship or not, this needs to change. This realm used to be beautiful and bright. Now the cloud of our leaders has covered it. It is darker now than it ever was when we were down to 2-3 regions.

Nobles of Tara, I plead to you. If you get the chance again, bring the light back! Elect a new leader for this realm! Do not condemn this realm further by electing Jonathon again. Personally my favorite candidate is Manxy, but any, including Achilles or James, would be a GREAT improvement. This is no longer Tara, this is Jonathon and Lister’s play realm.

For this reason I have decided to will no longer be with you. I have had it with the back stabbing talk of our allies and the leading down dark hallways that this leadership is doing. I have had it with these two leading our realm. I have had it with their non-listening ears. This realm is not where I grew up and it is certainly not the realm that I have grown to love so much. It’s changed and all the old players, like Manxy and Achilles, see this. Heed their words to you when they speak! They are wise and deserving of your ears. I shall miss this realm! It was the only place where I actually felt like it was my home. But it has changed. I hope that things eventually change within this realm. I hope that my death will cause some people to finally listen. Do not let our leaders destroy the glory that is left in this realm.

I nominate Achilles to take my spot as Duke! I know that Jonathon has told me that he will never give Achilles a position as long as he is our ruler. So I will start a referendum and let the people of Tara decide if Achilles would make a good Duke or not. And should they choose yes and Jonathon still doesn’t listen to the people than start the uprising.

I love each and everyone of you! Please fight and die for the real Tara. Let the record show that I gave up my life, not in battle but for the old Tara.

With great respect of the people of Tara...FOR THE GLORY OF OLD TARA!!!!!

Thor
Duke of Foda

Duke of Foda destroys DMC Guildhouse then Self
April 2nd, 2007

For more than a week now Thor, former Duke of Foda, has shown signs of frustration and despair. These feelings came to a boiling point during Jonathon's accidental removal from Office and subsequent re-Election. Thor very much wanted a new Dictator on the throne but despite the current problems, the Votes went everywhere and Jonathon won anyway. I believe this was when Thor snapped into insanity and suicide.

About 24 hours ago, Thor began to destroy the Darkan Mercenary Company Guild located at his City of Foda. This action was unauthorized and done by Thor and Thor alone. Darka lowered our relations to Peace a few hours later. Needless to say, confusion and demands for answers came from all members of the Military Council. Fearing Rebellion, I myself have returned to Foda and several others have set course to return home. I am happy such rebellion did not happen as the sideeffects to our Regions would have been dire indeed.

Thor is dead. He killed himself rather than face the charge of treason and the verdict of death. We have all lost a great warrior and friend. His love for Tara has blinded him to all other truths and such lack of sight ultimately destroyed him. I beg you all not to follow in his path.

I ask we all share a moment of silence for the passing of Thor, former Duke of Foda, former General of Tara, former Leader of the elite Silence Task Force and Comrade in Arms.
