Donkeyvich Family Submissions / Works in Progress

I have 2 years of experience with 3D modeling, and I've decided to try my hand at some of these. I'm working on an animated fountain right now, and will try some others in the near future.

A question: if I work on a model together with a friend who doesn't play BattleMaster, am I allowed to submit it?

Fountain

The fountain is fully animated, and contains about 12000 polygons. It's a rough draft at the moment, and I welcome any suggestions.

Model (C4D format)

Windmill

The windmill is fully animated, and contains about 18000 polygons. It's a near-final draft, and a friend (who doesn't play BattleMaster) worked on it with me.

I just updated the FBX file. The textures should look better now. The animation didn't export, but I separated the model into the windmill body and arms, and it should be very easy to animate it in any 3D utility. --AlexN 23:47, 15 January 2009 (CET)

Catapult

The catapult is fully animate-able and contains about 10000 polygons.

Discussion

Slightly smaller images

Can you load these as thumbnails with a link to a higher resolution image? This page will quickly get very large if several are posted at this size. --Indirik 04:32, 9 January 2009 (CET)

Good idea. I'll re-render them tomorrow at a smaller size and link to a larger image. --AlexN 04:52, 9 January 2009 (CET)

Export problems

I have realized that it is impossible for me to export the fountain to any format other than C4D, because my emitter objects generating the waterfall effects are Cinema 4D-specific. Meanwhile, I run into problems when I attempt to export the textures in the windmill, and I can't get the water texture in the fountain to work properly. Thus, I suppose I will have to withdraw from the contest because I am unable to export to any of Tom's preferred formats. --AlexN 19:58, 14 January 2009 (CET)

Actually, I've managed to get the textures to work pretty well in the FBX format for the windmill, and I'll upload it later today. Unfortunately, I don't think the fountain could ever work properly in any format other than C4D.

Ideas for other models

  • Catapult/trebuchet/other siege engine
  • Tavern
  • Church/temple/generic religious building

Would any of these be useful? --AlexN 19:31, 16 January 2009 (CET)
