Sungard/Rites

The gathered crowd hushes as Lord Rasputin, Warder of the Candles, emerges from the guildhouse inner sanctum. He bears a thin wooden disc, barely more than paper, and approaches Angel Eyes, Marc, and Marche, who are kneeling on the step, each with a lit candle.

"We are reminded today that the forces of darkness are always poised to strike -- but also that the forces of light are always prepared to drive back the darkness."

He brings the disc to each, and each touches his or her candle to it long enough to start a flame on a different part of the disc. He then carries it to a pile of kindling on a brass plate.

"Through force of arms, these three have completed their initiate training, protecting Athol Margos and Bolkenia from the undead ravagers. I declare you Soldiers of the Sun, full members of Sungard."

Rasputin places the disc into the kindling, which begins to burn slowly at first, then brightly. He smiles, bows, and returns to the inner sanctum, marking the end of the formal ceremony, though surely all of the new Soldiers will remain and celebrate.

The rituals of Sungard are guarded closely, but many of the initiate-level rites and ceremonies are public or open to invited outside nobles. This space is open for accounts of these rituals by those who have witnessed them first-hand.
