Viridiana Sovari

Early life

From an early age Viridiana had been a bright independant child, often playing in the woodlands near her family's estate. Her mother had often scolded her for her tomboyish behaviour and lack of noble conduct. A free spirit at heart she would take the beatings and preaching without betraying her pain. This was made worse when she had become twelve, her parents insisting on having her enter the martial academy to have her train for war. She finished the academy with mediocre grades due to her small stature and weak sword arm, her only redeeming points being her sharp wit and strategic insight.

Soon after, at the age of fifteen she took up fencing as her form of combat in secret, focussing on turning her foe's strength against him to compensate for her own physical frailty. With sword and dagger she had become a formidable duelist, yet she would only duel with her tutor for she felt the duels of nobility were but a waste of time and strength. After completing her training her tutor gave her a uniform befitting of a master duelist, it's colors matching Viridiana's scarlet hair.

It was then that she learned of her family's involvement in the conflict at Ibladesh, where Perdan and Caligus had decimated the righteous warriors of the white city and were starving the people without the intention of taking the city before it's people lay dead. Overwhelmed by grief and dishonor she took her main-gauche and set it upon her breast, but before she could take her own life a soothing warmth kept her from entering death's embrace. It had been one of the gods of Ibladesh, Sartan, that had called out to her. He had given her new hope and so she set out on her journey to find honor and justice, the things she felt she had lost when her family had supported the massacre of the people of Ibladesh.

The Far East

Having set off from her home with little to nothing to remind her of it, Viridiana landed in the noble lands of Toupellon. She quickly pledged her fealty to a small rural region named Anaos and it's lord, Lady Audrey. Much to her surprise she would soon be presented a small fortune in name of her father, who had known of his daughter's duress and dismay. He stated in the letter that he would watch over her, though the family in earnest had all but disowned her for convicting the war on Ibladesh. Her days with the people of Anaos as it's knight would be short lived however, as war came to the realm of Toupellon and during that period Lady Audrey vanished without a word after placing Anaos in the Duke of Colasan's care. It was during this hectic time of war that Viridiana was named Countess of Anaos, replacing Lady Audrey as it's ruler.

It would not be long until the countess was beset by more problems. It would not be long before the Duke of Ozrat, Lord Caspius Arundel issued a demand for Anaos to rejoin the duchy of Ozrat. First subtle, later more and more demanding, adding threats to her people and her own life. In a flare of defiant fury she sought the council of her Duke, Excalibur Quincy of Colasan. This in turn resulted in the shattering of Toupellon as the northern provinces seceded to form the realm of Sorraine. She herself had been in Upasael and was forced to retreat home through hostile lands.

She had thought her people safe but soon after the new realm on her doorstep had formed, threats from the south had cast their shadows over Toupellon. In an act of love and loyalty to the men and women who had welcomed her and had given her a new home, she sacrificed her own happiness by seceding her Anaos to Sorraine in a bid to secure support for the south. It had been Lady Selene Octavius' efforts that paved the way for her to stand by Sorraine, though it had come at a heavy cost for her. Her own heart in shambles once more as she drifted between melancholy and wrath. All that had kept her together was the friendship of the high priestess, the love of her people and her songs. She spent many days walking among both her people and the wilds, earning the trust of a mighty wolf who had felt her heart's pain. She named the mighty beast Justicar after it stayed by her side through her period of sorrow.

Not given the time to fully recover from the pain she felt inside, she was once more called to war. Ohnar West had betrayed Sorraine and her stubborn rejection of Sorraine during it's formation had been at the root of the issue. The duchy of Ossaet had wanted to join Sorraine but was unable to without Anaos, instead it had seceded to Ohnar West, which had taken hold of Ossaet by removing it's Sorraine favoring Duke and replacing him with a puppet. She had also recieved aid from one of the remaining knights of Ibladesh and her heart's pains were renewed. Upon arriving in Ozrat to rally with the other forces of Sorraine she was blessed with a revelation from Sartan himself. His words greatly helped heal her heart and filled her with zealous purpose.

Arcaea

After being granted the city of Topenah Viridiana joined Arcaea to return the city to the realm. Serving under Emperor Velax with love and conviction she helped unite the Far East under Arcaea's banner. She continued to stand by Empress Dawn and then would have stood by her successor until the secessions that tore the realm apart under the command of Claudio Kabrinski. As a result Viridiana stood up and was elected as Arcaea's new Queen. Her passionate heart gave birth to warm hearted diplomacy.
