The Silver Feather of the Maiden

The characteristics

Divinely beautiful. An almost touchable glow radiates off the silver in the light of the sun. However, the feather lives. It is no solid piece of material, such as Kings will treasure on a silk cloth. It is fluently waving and curling as if it were a real feather, played by the wind even though the silver is so pure that if not for divine presence it could only be a rigid object. The grace in which it twirls its sides fascinates even more than the radiance itself. It's divine; a true depiction of he female divine.

The Discovery

Lucius found the Feather in the custody of a dying sage, named Ramiël. For three full days Lucius watched over the elderly man, offering him shelter in the small room that he had rented. Ramiël was a mystery to Lucius. He spoke few, and only in whispers. What he did learn about the old man was only through his own attent.

He was old. Lucius had never seen a man so old yet so strong in his life. His body and eyes betrayed such experience and age that Lucius dared to speak of eighty, if not hundred; almost undreamable to men. But his muscles were still tense and Lucius knew that if not for his condition, that Ramiël could have broken his arm in wrestling, if he had wished to. Lucius knew that he had fought too. Callus covered his left hand, where he had wielded the sword. Many scars could be soon on his arms and chest, still visible even though they were clearly healed with expertise and patience.

Ramiël was a special man; Lucius had felt that when he had taken him in. Uncomprehendable scriptures that he had found in the packs of the sage had shown his sagesse and knowledge of mystics. And he too seemed to radiate little in the dark, although it dimmed by the day.

The third day Ramiël had mustered all his strength and beckoned Lucius towards him. He had revealed the Feather as a invaluable part of himself, even though he knew that Lucius had already seen it. Yet he beckoned slowly:
"Dear boy, dear Lucius.
You will hold the most sacred thing for men when I pass away to our Love.
All the beauty, all the radiance of her soul and presence is withheld in this Feather's glow and warmth.
Do not let it overcome you, as many are too weak to fathom its true meaning.
But your soul shows that you are strong.
You are blessed, dear boy.
"
He had died peacefully, clutching to the Feather in pure love and with an expression of utter bliss on his face.

The History

Once Lucius had covered Ramiël's body with some sheets, he turned to the Feather that had swirled through the chamber, now without a guardian.

As soon as he came close to it, he felt a glow reach towards him before he could reach towards the Feather itself. The warmth met his body and he was tantalized for an eternity by its indescribable power. When he opened his eyes again, he could see the Feather ease downwards towards his extended hand and it fell still for a moment, before curling slightly in a mystical breeze again.

He knew what Ramiël had meant. He had felt it. So dearly he had felt it.

He decided to sail the body of Ramiël away upon the waves of the ocean, so that his peaceful expression would never be touched again. The small boat limped over the vast body of water towards the horizon, beams of light reflecting around it in silent admiration. The sun itself payed in its own way respect to a man who had died in such peace and love. Only for Her.
