Actions

As a noble for the realm, your main obligation is to the realm; its defense, maintaining order, restoring production and morale, etc, etc, etc. However, there may be times when you have the opportunity to do things for yourself. Here is a basic list of what you can do for yourself:

Paperwork: Voting: Voting is listed under your paperwork section. This allows you to choose who you can vote for in any elections you may have. You can check to see who is eligible for it. Not every person is able to be the ruler or in charge. Some are too new to the realm...some don't have the experience...and some simply don't want the job. Take me for example...I wouldn't mind being a Marshal...or maybe a region lord...but one of the big 4? Nah...waaaaaaay too much paperwork and not enough drinking time. Many realms will only allow you to vote for a Ruler and a Judge. As a member of ASI, your option to vote is only brought up if a position is vacated for any reason. Once elected, the King or Archpriest are there until:

  • They Die.
  • They Step Down.
  • They Join Another Realm.
  • They Die.

The Treasurer and High Marshal are appointed by the ruler. You have the option of casting votes for several candidates: Your first choice will get the most votes, your second choice will get half that amount and your third choice will get half again. (I.E. 1st choice gets 4 votes, 2nd choice gets 2 votes, 3rd choice gets 1 vote). If you don't want anybody to be able to vote for you, this is where you mark it off.

Paperwork: Personal Paperwork: This is where you can have your scribe post your family or personal papers (OOC: using the links) Or contact the Titans. The Titans are the Uber Lords of the Realm...what they say is Law! If they feel you've violated the rules, they can come down on you with everything from a warning, to stripping you of your titles and positions to a lightning bolt! (OOC freezing your account). Be nice to the Titans.

Change Class: This is where you can change your job in the realm. You can switch from one class to another. You can only do this in your realm and best be careful. Once you change, you can't change back for 7 days, if at all. Certain classes have basic requirements for Honor or Prestige, and so the classes will not be available until you have met those requirements.

Visit the Temples: This will allow you to chat with local priests and find out little tidbits of information about the local populace and the region. However, it will normally require a little bit of gold (grease the skids with whatever god they believe in) and they may even bless you and your unit, which can raise the morale of your unit.

Rebel: Are you crazy??? What's wrong with you??? Rebel?!?!?!?!?!?! Okay...okay...it's my job to teach you, not judge you (crazy person). If you don't like the way things are being run in your realm, join the underground and try to do something about it. (crazy person times two)

Mix With Locals: If you are a relative newcomer to the game, the peasantry and townsfolk might not recognize you by appearance and so might be willing to let little bits of rumor and gossip slip out while you are around. However, if your Honor or Prestige are too high, you won't have this option. Even if your Honor and Prestige remain low, once you have been in a realm for a while, you might be too well known to perform this action.

Financial Actions:: When you get your taxes, this is where you have to go to change your bonds into shiny, pretty, oh so lovely gold coins. You can change all your bonds into gold, or just some of them. You also can have the option of sending bonds to other members of your realm (if you have enough honor) or to your family to put into the family wealth.

  • Banking: This is where you can change bonds into gold or change gold into bonds. You can change any amount of bonds into gold, but can only change gold into bonds in amounts of 50.
  • Money Transfers: You can send bonds to either your family wealth or to another member of the realm. Transfers can be done in amounts of 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 gold. (Possibly higher, but I've never been that rich) Transfers to your family will increase your Family Wealth, which can be called upon for family Support or Family Investments. Apparently, it can also be used for less scrupulous purposes as well, but again, I would never, ever do anything like that (whistles innocuously).
  • Transaction History: Just what it says. A history of your banking transactions.....duh!

Emigrate: Moving from one realm to another not enough for you? Move to a whole new continent. But be careful, you might not make it. Ships sink after all. (OOC: There was an infrequent occurrence of characters getting deleted when they moved from one world to another. Never happened to me personally, but I know I read about it.)

Dueling: Has somebody insulted you, either professionally, personally, spiritually, ecumenically...perhaps even grammatically??? Challenge 'em to a duel. You can fight em till one of you surrenders or you can fight em until one of ya is dead. Duels are supposed to be contests of honor and what not...but sometimes they're just good ole fashioned fun!

Paid Work: Down on your luck and need a little cold, hard coin to raise a new troop to lead in battle? Put on an apron...pick up a shovel...get a JOB!!!! You can't do this if you already have a unit of soldiers to lead. After all, it wouldn't look good in front of the troops. Also, you can't do this too often, I mean...you are nobility...working daily is for dirty peasants. And you can't do it if you already have over 100 gold in coin or bonds. And if you do work, it will cost you some honor or prestige. Cuz you ain't supposed to work unless it is your last resort. And being seen doing it is embarrassing!

Visit XXXXXXXXXX: Whenever you are in a region, you have the option of visiting and temples or guildhouses there to see if you want to join them. Joining a temple or a guild can give you access to messages or people that you normally wouldn't see, depending upon how high your rank in the guild/temple is. Also, You can use the treasuries there to store your gold safely. I've never had enough gold to spare to do this, so I don't know if you get taxed on it or not.

Bounty Board: People of notoriety can get bounties placed on their heads on the bounty board. These are normally people who are in high ranking positions, or who have managed to get on the wrong side of a lot of people. Sometimes they are just good at what they do and somebody wants to take them down a notch or two. I'm a little ashamed to say I've never been on there. Going to have to change that soon. Oh...anyway...if you duel against them and seriously wound or kill them, if you fight against them in battle and seriously wound or kill them...or if you're an infiltrator (YAY!) and seriously wound them in an assassination, then you can collect the bounty.

Trading: If you've got caravans with your paraphernalia, you can buy, move or sell food. If you're a trader, you can command more caravans than a regular knight can.

Visit the Academy: When in cities that have an academy...you can..you know...visit it. While there, you can train your various skills with different levels of tutors. You cannot train for more hours than you currently have available, but no matter what, you cannot train for more than 6 hours at a time. You can train Swordsmanship, Jousting and Leadership if you are a k-night. If you're a trader, you can also train your...well....your trading-ness (????). And if you're an infiltrator, you can become more sneaky while at the Academy. You can train with a regular, advanced and expert tutor. Regular tutors cost 1 gold an hour. Advanced tutors cost 2 gold an hour. And the really really good guys cost 4 gold an hour. Once your skills have reached certain levels, using the regular and advanced tutors might not be helpful anymore. And no matter how much you pay or how long you train, not every session will always help you improve your skills.

  • If you just want to know what level your skill is at, just spend one hour with a basic tutor and they'll give you an estimate. Not an exact number...an estimate only.

Family Support: Allows you to call on your family wealth to give you some gold right away. This will remove money from your family wealth and one of your servants will show up with gold in hand. Useful if you are going to be in the field for a while or if your unit was wiped out and you gotta recruit troops fast. But be careful. Doing this costs you prestige and honor. After all....you're supposed to be a noble and all that jazz.

Family Investment: Using the family wealth to give a super boost to production in a specific region. Gotta be careful when you do this. Usually want to do it in a region that can be protected since investing this much money makes the region a prime target.

Join Tournament: Pay your gold...get on your horse....go off to the tournament grounds. Show your skills against everybody else who is there. Buy drinks and show how much of a generous soul you are...buy lots of drinks...better yet...just buy me drinks...k? You can get free training while you're here too. Once you're on your way to the tourney...you can't do anything until you get there. Once there, you can't do anything in the regions of your homeland.

  • Be sure to leave your men in a region that has lots to do. Cities and townslands are the best. That way they won't get too bored while you're gone. Be sure to have enough gold to pay them when you get back too. You can't spend bonds at the tourney either. It is gold or go home.
  • Your travel time to tournaments isn't as long as it would be normally. A tournament may be 12 regions away, which would normally take 6 days to get there (minimum) but you might get there in only 4 days. (OOC: Travel to tournaments is always less than real life. So even if you think a tournament is too far away by checking the travel page, look under here to see how long it will actually take you to get there)
  • If you have to leave the tourney, you can. But it will cost you some prestige to do so.

Joining a tournament is YOUR RIGHT! Nobody can tell you that you can't join a tourney. You're a noble. You have a birthright to maintain.

Mentor Tasks: Helping your students understand what they can and can't do.
