All Hail the King!

Your ruler is concerned with one thing and one thing only. Their rulership. No ruler is afraid of anything more than loosing their crown. All rulers who tell you otherwise is lying. Of course, never insinuate that your ruler is afraid of loosing power. This will upset and lead them to believe you are a spy from an enemy realm. Remember, all rulers are cowards, and all successful rulers are paranoid.

The only ruler with any amount of minerals are those who rule under a democracy. Unfortunately, democracies also breed the most paranoid, power hungry, and illogical rulers. Be weary of these rulers, be it your from their realm or not. The masses are fickle, they know this. They have worked hard to get to their position. No weighted votes in this realm. If you pose any threat to their re-election, you are going to find yourself banned.

Also the more powerful your realm, the more outrageous the claims your ruler can make will be. So be proud of your ruler for making outrageous claims. The more powerful your realm, the less your ruler needs to be concerned with logic and reason. In cases where others disagree with your ruler's logic or reason, be this within the realm or outside it, it is always best to support your rulers outrageous claims. Remember, your ruler has a lot of influence over the control of your realm's titles and resources. Supporting their ideas is one of the fastest and surest ways of breaking through your realm's glass ceiling.

Also remember, never tell your ruler how to make the realm better (unless you are a member of the council, and then only maybe). By telling them that there is some way to improve the realm you are telling them that they are incompetent. No ruler can even slightly comprehend themselves as being anything but brilliant, perfect, and special. And as every ruler thinks they are “special” every ruler thinks his/her realm is also brilliant, perfect, and special. Every ruler believes that their realm is unique and the existence of their realm is significant to the history, culture, and development of BattleMaster. Ask any ruler, they will tell you not only how they have done it first, but how everyone is now trying to emulate them and failing too. You can use this to your advantage. Remember, aside from all ruler being cowards and delusional, they all also have self-esteem problems. Ensuring them that they are unique and creative will gain their trust and respect. Ask them how they've come up with their ideas. After they've sent you the ten to fifteen pages of text explaining to you how they've come up with the idea reply telling them that you would never be able to come up with something that good and you have never heard anything equal to it's creativeness. For best affect use words like “clever”, “grandiose”, “historical”, “insightful”, and “awesome”. If you can play your cards correctly, you may be able to become an emotional crutch for their self-esteem problems. This is particularly important if you ever want to be appointed as a Duke.
