Preface

It said that a Celtic man created the earth as we know it, but over the centuries other men have contested this belief for their own. Whether or not this is true is up for debate and not truly considered history but little is known about the origin of the Celtic people, only their folklore give us hints of what might be fact or fiction. This volume of History of the Celtic people is only folklore and cultural beliefs and it is up to the individual to decide whether they choose to believe this. The future volumes are fact and have been documented thoroughly throughout the years, some events I have been an eye witness to.

Part I: Creation of Man

The world as we know it was once nothing but mud, for there was no separation of soil and water. No life existed on this plain of mud, not even the smallest of insect or rodent. Just the mixture of mud and water, but what of the sky? It was black, no sun or moon existed, no Blood Stars and no lesser stars were in the sky, just darkness. By some divine miracle a hand burst from the mud and for a thousand years the hand pushed mud away from itself to reveal a man covered in mud. The man scooped up handfuls of mud and began to squeeze it tightly separating the soil from water, the water splashed upon him and washed the soil away. For years the man practiced this method of cleansing until the soil was separate from water leaving a vast ocean and single land mass. It was then the man was cleansed of soil, and his skin was pale and freckled, his hair was red like fire.

The man pulled on his hair until he removed a large fistful, he then rolled it into a ball and breathed his hot breath upon it until it caught fire. This large round ball of burning hair was placed into the darkness above where it remains giving light to the world and a bright blue sky. Then his stomach roared in hunger, a hunger so great it shook the world and the single landmass so greatly that it broke apart creating several continents and oceans. The man knew he needed to consume so he pulled a single hair from his scalp and placed it, root first into the soil where he waited until it grew into a enormous tree that reached into the heavens. From it's highest branches small creatures of various shapes and sizes climbed to the ground below and the man feasted. Over time seeds fell from this tree, the man picked up a hand full of seeds and with all his breath in his lungs, blew a mighty wind that spread the seeds across the world to all the other continents.

Over time the man grew lonely, though many creatures kept him company such as the dog, cow and horse, no other beings such as he existed. The man cried great tears which flowed and carved it's way through the continents and created rivers, and from the mouth of the first river another being which looked similar to the man appeared. The man knew this was one of his kind but this was slightly different from him, from shape, sound and softness. The being's hips were wider and her chest was soft and fatty rather than hard and muscular like his own. Even the being's face was softer and easier to look at, and in the man's heart, he felt a great love in which he had never experienced. The man knew this was his kind but not a man, but a woman, and so his loneliness subsided and his love grew deeper than any ocean.

The man had spent so much time with the woman over time the love they shared was equal and the woman shed a single tear. A tear unique to any shed by the man, it was a tear of joy and love. The tear fell and splashed upon a rock and the rock began to shine in the night, and so the woman placed the tear coated rock into the night sky, this is now known as the moon. With the moon in the night sky, a new type of love was born and when several moons had passed, a child was born. This process was repeated over the years and more and more children were born to these two people.

Part II: The Creation of Men

Years past and the children of the two began to have children and their children had children. Over time they spread across the land, and founded villages and created new families, all was peaceful. Eventually so many people were born that it became crowded and tensions grew. A tribe led by the man's first born son was suddenly attacked by a tribe led by the man's fifth born son, the two fought until the first born son was struck down. The fifth born son had killed over land, and the tribesmen of the first born son's tribe fought bravely against their attackers but were all killed in the process. The soil was tainted with blood of the innocent, the soil that was drenched with blood became hard and formed stones so heavy they were a burden on the soil in which they rested on.

As the bloody day past the night came with tiny bright lights in the sky that accompanied the moon. The man and woman discovered the atrocity that had taken place, and in their anger they summoned great black clouds in the sky which bright lights struck down from killing many of the murderous tribesmen. Great funnels appeared and lifted up many of the tribesmen and threw them onto other continents, these men were turned different colors because of the clouds and were no longer considered kin of the first man and woman. After the storm the clouds had turned white and were peaceful, they now float above us in the sky day and night.

The fifth son was captured alive and held in bondage until a great hole was dug so deep, the earth boiled at the bottom of it. The fifth son was cast into the whole and buried, and so is the fate of all who commit the Great Sin of Murder of Kin. The man and woman became so heartbroken over the Great Sin they both died, they became part of the earth once again but the sun became brighter and the moon did as well. The descendants of the man and woman became known as the Celtic people, for they honored their spirits and teachings, those who did not, became other types of people with their own types of traditions, cultures and teachings. This concludes the story of creation.
