Senses of the Soul

I have already attempted to look at what a soul is made up of. Now I would like to take a look at how souls effect each other. This effect can be large or small depending on the strength of a soul. Or in the case of gods if there is a choice factor involved. A soul is constantly interacting with other souls and it is those interactions that effect our outlook on life and what we do. Think of all the experiences that make up your life. What defines you as a person? How has your soul changed after meeting certain people, going to special places, or interacting with some objects. The reason for this is that in some way the soul of the person, place, or thing has effected your soul. Though the same is true for our own souls. As we go about in the plane of life our souls are for ever interacting with other souls and we leave our mark on them. How much of a mark will often depend on how strong the interaction was. Some souls call out to each other and get along well while others do not. Though changes in the soul are caused by both good and bad interactions so no interaction is ever really wasted. Most times the change in a persons soul is undetectable at the time if it is ever noticed.

Before we can understand how souls interact we need to look out how we interact as people. We perceive things in six different ways. There are the five basic senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste) then you have your sixth sense or intuition. These senses are how we deal with what we see around us. These senses effect how you see the world. Now all of the senses can effect and make an impression on your soul. They can affect your soul in some way that it is never the same again. I am sure we all have memories of something or someone that has changed our life for good or for bad. These are the things that shape or outlook on life and change our soul. Have you ever seen someone and just knew they were going to play an important part in your life or have that one horrible scene you have locked in your mind you cannot forget. These are ways that sight has affected your soul for good or bad. For hearing have you heard someone speak that has touched your very core and changed you in more ways to count or known a warrior that is haunted by voices of the dead. This is how the sense of hearing can attach itself to our soul. Good smells like a ladies perfume or the stench of decaying bodies. These are the smells that will stick around and cause you to remember things. The touch of a loved one or handshake of a comrade in arms is the good things that we feel and remember. On the bad side we remember the first time we were wounded in battle or if we were hit by someone who said they loved us. For taste what can taste better than a drink among friends and what can taste worse than food that has been poised against you. All these things are ways that your basic sense can change your soul the very core of who you are. The last way that your soul can be changed is what is called your sixth sense our intuition. It is a bit hard to explain. Have you known when something bad was going to happen or perhaps felt a presence you could not see but you knew someone or something was there? This is your sixth sense. A sense that helps you see and feel things that your other sense cannot see or cannot explain.

Now let’s look at the gods. As a god a divine soul has abilities that outshine and are so much greater than anything or senses can comprehend. All of their sense are so much more heightened then ours. Though the bad thing is that with all their power they still need to communicate with us in a manner that we can understand and perceive. There are gods all around us and based on their form they have their own unique way of presenting themselves to us. Have you ever just sat and watched the world go by. Sat and listened to the wind blowing. Or just stood still and listened to a storm from the safety of your own house? This is gods talking in their own way. Gods to talk to us all the time but often we do not have the ability to receive them. Also we may not be ready to hear what they have to say. Each person has a certain ability to tune into or tune out the world around them. Some can readily hear and see what is going on around them while others only see the people in front of them and the branches moving because of the wind. This is why sometimes the gods must make themselves seen and heard.

Sometimes they come to us in visions so they can tell us what they want. Or sometimes they take on a human form so that they can directly interact with us. Though reaching out to us lesser forms does require a great deal of power an concentration so they gods do not do it too often. When they have orders for us they will make themselves heard but as long as we stay along a certain path they will likely leave a person alone. This is similar to a Duke that trust his lord fully. As long as they do what they should he will live them alone. But if the occasion warrants it he will shout out orders. An encounter with a god will leave a lasting impression on a soul. A encounter with a god is not something you would forget.

I can tell you from my personal experiences with gods that they don not communicate in exactly the same we way do. I have spoken to a god in a dream. That in and of itself was an interesting experience. The Rogue Mystic has also had experiences with gods who have spoken to him. While they have used their voice there is no way to tell if he was hearing the voice in his head or just in his mind. Either way the experience has changed him profoundly. The gods have also used more subtle ways to communicate with me. The book that holds these writings I believe is a journal of sorts for I hear voices in my head. I can not understand them but I think my subconscious hears them and these writings are what comes of them. There was a point if someone told me about these things I would think they where crazy but now I can see the truth. I also believe anyone can see it for themselves also if they just take the time to look and think about they way things work around them.
