Davis Mason-Kennit, of Lanston is from the family Mason-Kennit.

A stocky boy since the age of four, Davis spent most of his childhood running through the forests and fields of Lanston, learning the ways of the Realm of Abington and honing his skills by hunting foxes and falconing.

His family is a traditional noble-family; lots of land with little income or prestige and few peasants to work it. The title is mostly in name only, as Robert Mason-Kennit, current patriarch chose a life of scholary studies and gardening to leading units into battle or expanding his families holdings.

Upon reaching the age of seventeen, Davis chose to take up the family crest, a black cat's head over a blue and white field, to try and regain fame and fortune.

This caused some disconcert in the family. Robert Mason-Kennit didn't want the name dragged about in a potentially lost conflict, was not truly interested in financing and fielding a troop, and was more concerned with convincing Davis to enter the monastary. Davis rebelled against this idea, claiming that religious life was for poor peasants.

Although the fued raged for months, Davis eventually set out with a small amount of gold and some loyal retainers. Of these, Lewin is the most prominent. An older man, in his mid-40's, he was the primary tutor during Davis' developmental years. Acting almost as a surrogate parent, Lewin taught Davis not just the basics in falconing and hunting, but intangible items such as leadership, logistics, statistics, and field maneuvars. Part of Davis' drive to return the family name to prominence comes from the pride instilled in him by Lewin.

Davis' first battle was succesful, though not by any effort on his behalf. Still, the pride in riding out for the good of the realm and being present for a battle, even if he could not confront the enemy, sealed his committment to the realm.
