The three boys stood by the rectangular patch of dirt obvious in the field of grass. Below them, their father lay dead. As the priest continued the ritual chanting that was supposed to prevent a necromancer from turning the dead body into an Undead slave, the boy's mother stood behind the three of them with her eyes closed.
At the end of the chant, several of their fathers friends and business partners came up to hug the new widow and pat the boys on their head. With the funeral coming to a close, the boys where able to sneak off while their mother stayed to talk with friends.
The scene was almost picturesque: Paul, leaning against a large tree trunk. Marc, laying in the grass. Tom, sitting on the ground, playing with some dirt.
