Bay of Whispers

This story was gathered and recorded by a Lore Gatherer Joaquim Anthaigos in the region of Outer Giask during the reign of Queen Alanna. The other council positions at that time in Pian en Luries were William as Grand Imperator, Brom as Royal Arbitrator and Proslyn as High Treasurer. Outer Giask was ruled by Her Ladyship Marchioness Annalise. Joaquim was her sole knight, acting as a commander of the Garrison of Outer Giask.

The Tale

Following the coast line east of Giask, until you are halfway from Giask to Orz is located an area known as the ”Bay of Whispers”. The bay has some peculiarities which makes it stand out from the rest of the coast line. It is only in this bay that you can find a special kind of twin-bladed reed. When the wind blows gently, and it often does, the entire bay is filled with sounds much resembling the whispering of a great number of people.

What is interesting about this whispering is that during this time no fisherman takes his small boat to the bay to fish. According to an age old tradition it brings bad luck to anyone who attempts to do so. In many a year none have tried, as everyone remembers the story of the Old Man Manakar who sailed out to fish during the whispering and was never heard of since.

The other curiosity about the bay is the color of its beach. Nobody knows for sure why, but the beach has a distinct shade of purple and sometimes pink in it. The beach outside of the bay is of the more ordinary bright yellowish brown color. The sand taken from the area has been used to construct some of the central buildings of the surrounding fisher villages, giving them their typical purple shaded color.
