Kazan Family/Merewyn/Awakening

Lady Merewyn wakes up in her room in the higher tower of the Castle. Still in bandages, she slowly stands up. Her side is torn by the blinding pain, she breathes heavily. The assassin missed the heart only by an inch.

Lady Merewyn opens the eyes widely in euphoria
- Perdan arrived! Finally... Oligarch is... saved...

She looks around to find where the Sirion troops escaped, but she cannot distinguish any pinky banner, nor the White Tree of Old Rancagua. Instead, she notices the Perdan troops storming the paysants houses, screams of women, fire and smoke at the city walls. And within the walls, hundreds of wounded lying on the streets, bounded in haste by few priests, women and children gathering weapons and rallying at the ramparts.

- Why don't they open the gate yet? ... Oligarch is safe now...
Lady Merewyn tormented by the high fever hardly concentrates, she looks around trying to understand the situation. In the far she notices the high mountains white of snow instead of the badland plains of old Omsk. She glances at the castle towers, at the grey banners of Ubent at the Castle Ubent towers, her castle.

Slowly, she realizes the cruel truth. For the first time she leads the defence not against Sirion, like it was in Oligarch and earlier in Omsk, but here in Ubent, against.... actually.....friends?
