Fontan's Tournament Ends

The results of the tournament in the city of Fontan are in! All the realms of the East Continent were represented by the 257 nobles in attendance. The swordfighting half of the tournament was an intense one. Vlad of Light of Fountain won a respectable sum of 700 gold, defeating Daleth of Ibladesh, who walked away with a mere 50 gold. Quite a few of our nobles, including Roberto, Ethan, Fortin, and TK Jones, made a decent showing, but all but one were knocked out in the fifth round. I beat Elberan (of Fontan), Gregor (also of Fontan), Terrence (of our own Itorunt), William (Light of Fountain), and Fortin (another Itoruntian), receiving the wildcard in the sixth round, before losing to Leon of Fontan in the quarterfinal round. In the joust, I beat Hampton (a Fontan noble) two matches to one before promptly losing to Fandinia (of LoF). TK Jones and Ryndhal managed to get as far as the fifth round. The final was a tense one, but Turbo Returns from Perdan defeated Fenrus of Sirion 2 to 1 to receive the title of champion as well as 700 gold, with 50 more going to the runner-up. This tournament was a good one, but now it's time to head back home to our respective realms.

Update on the War

Rogal Dorn Primarchs of Fontan was kind enough to inform us of the current state of the war. His letter is copied below:

We got back our fair city and basically that is all we ever wanted. If LoF wants an official peace treaty, well, it would be up to them to contact our Chancellor, or we will most likely leave the situation as it is. Lycastus mysterious disappearance too does not help the situation.

If LoF wants to continue this war... we would simply... umm.. how do I put it subtly... crush them?

(Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and does not represent the view of our government.)

So, according to Rogal Dorn, the war is over, though only unofficially. Peace has once more blanketed the East Continent. I'm guessing that's what allowed them to even have this tournament. Not much else is going on, other than free training at the tournament... Other Fontan nobles have confirmed this. Lycastus has apparently not responded to messages asking to declare a ceasefire, so this is the way it'll stay for now.

A Tournament During War?

The realm of Fontan recently announced a tournament, shortly after they signed an alliance treaty with the realm of Caligus. A copy of the announcement of the tournament follows:

Tournament announced
Lady Lilith, Chancellor and Minister of Finances of Fontan has announced a tournament of Joust and Swordfight to be held in Fontan 9 days from now.
There will be a charge of 10 gold for every participant. The winner will be rewarded with 700 gold in addition to the honour and prestige that his victory will earn him. There will also be a reward of 50 gold for the second best.
All nobles of the continent are welcome on the tournament grounds on the day of this event. Make sure you announce your participation in time.

This announcement leaves several in our realm, and, I'm sure, much of the rest of the continent as well, wondering what is going on. As most of you know, Fontan has been involved in a war with Light of Fountain for several months. However, no ceasefire was officially announced to the rest of the continent. One is left to wonder: does Fontan simply expect its enemy to not attack? Or has some secret agreement been reached that has not been announced to the rest of the East Continent? Whatever the case, I'll be checking out the tournament and doing some investigating on my own.

The RIMA Opens!

Today marks the opening of the Royal Itorunt Military Academy. It had already been built, of course, but the guild was officially opened and announced to the public today. Lord Alois, High Marshal of Itorunt as well as Count of Nimraw, announced its opening with a letter welcoming all interested in becoming marshals, excerpted below:

Knights of Itorunt,

It is my pleasure to declare the Royal Itorunt Military Academy in Nimraw, open for all!

Please, I ask that any of you who aspire to the rank of Marshal join so that your mettle can be tested first there before on the field of battle.

You will receive regular lessons and instructions by our current Marshals and others who have honourably served our realm's military, as well as the chance of being fast tracked to promotion if we deem you satisfactory. So, anyone interested should make their way to Nimraw and join now.

Alois
High Marshal of Itorunt, Count of Nimraw

I am one of the instructors at this fine academy and will be drawing from my extensive experience to teach any who wish to learn. Hopefully, this guild will help bring forward the next generation of Itorunt's finest military leaders.

Sirion's Tournament Ends

The recent tournament in the city of Sirion ended today. The official tournament report follows:

Tournament Report
The tournament in Sirion is over. 222 troop leaders from 11 realms fought and drank. There was a swordfighting and a jousting contest.
Seet Nisha, Countess of Winkamus won the swordfighting tournament (Idris (Noble of Ibladesh) came second place).
The jousting contest was won by Saith (Noble of Itorunt) (Second place: bell (Noble of Obsidian Islands)).

As one can see, Saith brought furtherglory onto our realm by achieving a first-place victory in the jousting half of the tournament. Unfortunately, I could not personally attend this tournament due to my urgent business, but I and the rest of the staff are happy to see a noble of our realm coming in first place (and winng 1100 gold, of course). If anyone remembers, this is Saith's second consecutive first-place championship victory in jousting (and if you don't, read the below article). For those who missed it, here was the official announcement letter:

*OFFICIAL INVITATION*

Greetings World Rulers and Nobles,

Come join us in Sirion city to celebrate many exciting occasions.
-First there are the over 170 additions to this fine realm since last I hosted a tournament.
-Second is my fast approaching 1000 days of service to Sirion.
-Third is my 400th day as ruler of Sirion.
-Finally and most importantly I wanted an excuse to meet all the nobles from around the world again.

All of these occasions gives me a chance to throw a grand tournament and celebration. Sirion is offering the highest first place prize ever to be offered in any world. Then your skilled nobles and realms can brag that they won the highest prize ever offered. Sirion has stocked up on many fine wines, mead, ale, and foods. There are many sights to see, places to practice your skills, and plenty of large rooms to rest in from your travels and long nights drinking. Just be careful around the herbs Count Adrian might have you try. They are very addicting and once addicted it will cost you a lot of gold to maintain this habit.

With that I hope to see many new and returning nobles in Sirion city in the coming days.

Cordially,

Sir Handow
Prime Minister of Sirion

You'll have to ask those who were there to find out how it was.

Ibladesh Tourney Results

If anyone remembers this tournament, it ended quite some time ago, but I never managed to get the results to you. Well, here they are... I was beaten out in the first round in both parts of the tournament; by Freliana of Perdan in the sword and 3-0 by Kostra of Yssaria in the joust. bell of the Obsidian Islands beat sinted of Ibladesh to win the swordfighting championship, and Saith of our very own Itorunt won the joust by defeating Kostra of Yssaria 2 to 1. Well, I guess losing to the second-place jouster isn't so bad... Anyway, 205 troop leaders were at the tournament in all. The first-place winners received 600 gold, while the runners-up got 250 gold. A fun tournament, though I was busy the last few days of it.

Apologies and Hiring Notice

I apologize greatly for the delay in getting this month's issue of the II out. I was away for slightly over a week on important family business, and it seems the other editors didn't do much while I was away. It's hard running a newspaper almost completely by yourself. Lady Valdid's been helping, and I thank her for that. I once again send out a call for editors, since Thray doesn't seem to be doing much. Anyone interested, please send a letter indicating your interest in working for the Itorunt Informer to me, Ichigo Kurosaki. With your help, the II can become the most up-to-date source of news once again!
